We are arriving tomorrow and staying until Tues. I made my reservation at Park Vue after speaking to reservation agent who promised to put a notation to put us in a room with the new carpeting. I have always stayed away from Park Vue because of the filthy carpet reports, but the reservation agent was very reassuring that I would get a new carpet room with the request.

Well.....today I called to make sure the reservation has the carpet notation and they said that the new carpeting has been pushed back a few weeks....so no new carpet!!:scared1:

I'm thinking about changing to Candy Cane Inn. They still have rooms at the same price. We REALLY wanted to be as close as possible this time, but the trip reports about Park Vue scare me! I don't need a 5* hotel, but I need it to be CLEAN!

Any thoughts? I need to make the change soon as we are leaving in the morning!

I haven't read that Park Vue Inn was immaculate, but I haven't read the same horror stories as you I guess. I know a lot of people enjoy Candy Cane Inn, so if you would feel more comfortable with the switch, go for it. The only thing I'll say is that if you're checking in tomorrow, you are surely within the cancellation window so you're going to have to pony up at least one night's rate from PVI for cancelling I'd imagine.

I have read so many good things about the Candy Cane Inn--and their shuttle service is suppose to be a great option. It is still walking distance close, but for trips back to the hotel mid-day or at night, it would be great to have that shuttle.

People say the hotel is very clean and well maintained as well. I would ask for a room on the second floor to avoid any noise issues with kids running around.

You should go for what you feel comfortable with; but as PP mentioned, you may have to put out the additional funds for waiting last minute to cancel. Good luck!

We stayed at the Park Vue Inn last month and our room was really clean and the carpet was good. So maybe we got lucky! We were in Room 206, just a couple rms. down from the breakfast rm. We really enjoyed our stay and want to stay there again!:thumbsup2

We always stay at the Park Vue and have never had a problem with them being dirty. There may be a few reviews saying that, but there are literally hundreds more where people rave about the place. Why don't you give it a chance, if you find they are too dirty in the room you are in, call and speak to the manager and get a new room maybe? Our last stay there was a manager, (I think his name is Argenis) that guy will do whatever it takes to make sure you are happy.

Thank you everyone! :yay:

We decided to just keep our ressie and fingers crossed we get a clean room....if not we'll ask to move until we get one! :rotfl2:

CandyMouse....thank you for the room number. I'm going to call and see if we can put in a request for that particular room :0)

Hopefully I can put together a trip report when I return. Thanks!

I forgot to tell you our room was a Queen/Bunk. Good Luck and I hope you have a Great time!:)

Not as close, but just so you know...most of the Anabella's first floor rooms and, I believe, Motel 6, have wood floors.

Once I stayed at Anabella without carpet I haven't looked at a hotel carpet the same way!

Even thought the Candy Cane is a little further down - we found the shuttle to be very easy to use. It runs at a set time - vs just back and forth. We never walked - but it well within our walking distance.
