Help with ideas for long term Christmas gift

I haven't read replies yet so sorry if I name already mentioned: ice skating or roller skating, movie night, fireworks display & picnic, state fair/county fair, pumpkin patch, discovery center/hands on museum, community play, sporting event (like college football etc.)

If you are your childrens' main care provider, I think gifts you can extend the longest would be zoo or museum memberships. If you have a zoo, aquarium or museum within an hour of you, that's a great Christmas gift. A family membership for everyone.
We buy this each year for our son. When we travel on vacation, we check out the other reciprocating museums, zoos, etc.

The ones that my kids have liked best when doing this is ziplining or sporting events. Depending on big or small you want to go with the sporting events it can be as simple as a minor league team or traveling to another town for the weekend to see a professional sport.
Do you have a local water park/pool that you could buy a season pass too?
My kids love plays, any coming to your area soon that they may enjoy?

LOVE this idea!

Since you are in Buffalo...what about something in Niagara Falls? We are taking our kids there and they are really looking forward to the Maid of the Mist boat ride. I've heard the Butterfly place is pretty cool too!

Re: Great Wolf Lodge...there is one in Niagara Falls and we got an AMAZING deal on one of the Kids Cabin Suites. The Canadian dollar isn't doing too well right now, so we were able to SCORE! Sorry to my pals up North.

Also, SWA is running a special right now with many places from my market for $49 each way (that's how we are going to Niagara Falls, $98 for each of us = nice long weekend but not crazy expensive and we did it on our points). Maybe see a city there you've never explored and find a Children's Museum or something?

Drive in theater? We have one about 1.5 hours from us and it is totally awesome (a la the movie Grease). The kids would love that.

We also do disco dance party Friday nights and then we let all three of our kiddos have a slumber party on our floor and we stay up late and watch terrible Hallmark movies and eat lots of popcorn! This is especially fun around Christmas time!

Loving these super great ideas. Way to go OP and PPs!

Happy planning!

This is such fantastic idea. I am totally stealing it for Christmas this year. There are so many great ideas listed. Off the top of my head, I can think of Beach Day, Winter Festival, Whole Foods often offers classes (one time we did a sushi making class), or a daytrip to a nearby town to explore?
