We are going to Disney Dec 21-28 :santa: and we are also traveling my mother and sister. They have said that they would like to watch our kids one evening while DH & I go out by ourselves. We don't know which night we will do this, so I need some ideas of where we could go that we will not need an ADR for. I am looking more for a place where we can sit down and have a few drinks and maybe some appetizers or sushi....not a full meal. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Oh, and we are staying at POR if that helps.

Ha... I don't mean to laugh - but this is the busiest week of the year (pretty much) for Disney... I HIGHLY doubt you will get in anywhere without and ADR...

I think the only place you could maybe do a walk-up is Trails End Buffet at Fort Wilderness. We love it there but it's a buffet and you certainly won't find any sushi! :rotfl: But it might be your only choice.

Although I agree with the other posters, you might try one of the lounges at the resorts - I think most of them serve some kind of bar food/appetizer things. I'm thinking Tambu Lounge @ the Poly, the one next to Artist Point at the WL, most of the deluxes have a lounge area.

I had to add on to the negative thoughts, but I agree. This is the Busiest season of the year for Disney. I do not believe you will find any availablity at any TS restaurant to sit and have a few drinks and an appetizer without an ADR.
Your best bet would be a resort lounge where you could also order appetizers. You may have to get there early or wait a bit for a seat, but this might fill the bill for you.
Although I have not seen him personally, there is an entertainer at POR named Bob Jackson in the lounge there. He gets great reviews here, but they do say it is family friendly, so it may not be the quiet romantic setting you are looking for. I am sure others who know more will chime in here.
The Tambu Lounge at the Poly is nice, and you may be able to get Sushi there. But it gets very crowded with people waiting for Ohana.
Good Luck finding something.

When we were last at the Poly, they had a little sushi area:

"Kona Island Sushi - Hours of Operation - 5pm to 10 pm

Sashimi - salmon tuna and chef's choice $13.99
California Luau Roll - fresh jumbo lump crab, pineapple, and avocado $12.99
Volcano Roll - spicy tuna, shrimp salad, tempura crunch $12.99
Shrimp Tempura Roll - tempura shrimp, fresh mango served with lilikoi sauce $9.99
Tuna Poke - traditional Hawaiian poke salad $10.99
Kona Crab Cake Roll - fresh jumbo lump crab cake, avocado, and an Asian tartar sauce $10.99
Kona Combo Plate - luau California roll, salmon sashimi, tuna poke $13.99

Kona Island Cocktails/Wine and Sake"

The POR bar is not quiet at all!:rotfl: Lot's of fun - but lot's of hoop n' holler! At POR you could even just grab some food-court food and head over to Old Man Island to sit at the bar or bar-side tables. It's really not that far from the food court. (BTW try the make-your-own pasta dishes. Yummy!) There's also a small outdoor seating area with a fire-pit on OMI.

Also, what about taking a ride to AKL and maybe getting a snack at the Mara then getting a drink, walking around the resort, seeing the animals and/or sitting outside at the fire?

Another thing I think would be fun would be to take the boat from POR to Downtown Disney and shop and/or try your luck for food/drinks.

It will be crowded and I too doubt anyplace will take a walk-in...but sometimes just getting away by yourselves...

Yeah, that was my thought....that we wouldn't be able to find anything. We of course had all of our ADRs booked at the 180 day, but my mother just told me the other day that her and my sister would like to let us have a night out while we are there. Maybe we will check out the lounge at the Poly, or we may just have better luck walking around WS. With three kids any time alone with DH is nice regardless of what we do

You could always do downtown disney and make sundaes at ghiradellis, or try the lounge at any deluxe resort.

Not sure what kind of $$ you are talking about spending but Bistro de Paris (upstairs, France, Epcot) only takes ressies 30 days out, not before. So if you wanted to go for a very nice dinner, you could call first thing on your 30 day mark and possibly get in there. It's one of our favorite WDW places, but there is no sushi.

We haven't been to the new lounge at CSR but when we were there 2 years ago, we spent MANY evenings enjoying a margarita and chips and salsa. I'm sure they probably don't have sushi but it was uncrowded (not exactly quiet) but we really enjoyed a "night cap" there most nights!

What about Olivia's at Key West? I've heard it is pretty good food and rarely requires a ressie? However, I do know that is an extremely busy time of year....what does anybody think about the chances of something like Olivia's?

Wow....I didn't know that they only book at 30 and not 180 like eveything place else. I think we will try to eat there. I will just plan on choosing one of the days that we only have an ADR planned for breakfast so we will be able to enjoy a nice sit down dinner without children  Thank you very much for the suggestion.
