Help with Hotel selection

Which hotel would be the best considering the following factors? Going will be myself and DD(13) and DS(9). We will be staying approx. 7 days. I am open to any hotel suggestions from Value through Deluxe.

Factors in order of preference.

1. Nice pool with a slide (sometimes I wonder if that is the only reason they go)
2. Nice foodcourt for kids who are picky eaters.
3. Fairly good transportation (Buses are fine, we just don't like to wait too long for them)

YC/BC for the great pool stormalong bay! We stayed there in Feb and YC is great. If you want magic kingdom I'd recommend the GF.

YC/BC for a wonderful pool... It's like a water park !
There is no food court but many places to eat in the area.
We found the transportation to be wonderful. Bus stop was right outside the front door of YC. Boat to MGM and you can walk or take boat to Epcot.

Well, you're only going to find food courts in the moderates or values. Out of the moderates I have only stayed in POFQ and POR. I LOVED POFQ. The food court was good, the stuff we ordered turned out to be delicious, the pool was wonderful (great Dragon slide), there was a playground right by and a great jacuzzi with themed music. The theming is really outstanding at this resort. I liked the buses better here than at POR because there was only one bus stop and so it didn't take forever to get dropped off. The resort was small so getting to everything did not involve too much walking.

If you're willing to forgo the food court for more of an informal eatery (there are always one of those at the deluxes) there are plenty of choices I'd recommend in the deluxe category. My son adores AKL (he's five and has been several times). He loves the animals, especially that he can see them from the pool area. It is a well designed hotel (some don't like the long hallways, but I love how the rooms horseshoe around the savannah...and of course, that beautiful lobby). The pool area is great and there is a slide. Great playground as well. There is an informal eatery called the Mara that offers quite a range. We love the prime rib cold sandwiches and the yogurt parfaits. There's the regular stuff like chicken fingers and pizza. There was pizza in the child's menu at Jiko, too...but that is there upscale restaurant (if you are dining for the whole family). Boma is really neat, too.

My all-time favorite is GF. There are plenty of kids activites here (pirate cruise, adventure in cooking, alice's tea party) but character dining like 1900 park fare w/ cinderalla in the evening or mary poppins in the am. This is one of the most convenient resorts for transportation--you have boats, the monorail or the buses, plus great access to the other monorail resorts like the Contemporary or the Poly for fun shops and a lot more eating options. The pools are wonderful (especially the waterfall pool) and the rooms are very large and pretty.

I have always thought the POFQ looked like a nice hotel. We have stayed at the AKL as well and my kids liked that a lot. I know my kids would love Stormalong bay, but I am not sure about the food. I realize that there would be plenty of places around there to eat, but with my kids we just want to grab a bite and be on our way, so a food court works out much better. We stayed at the ASMo last fall and liked the food court, but the pool was pretty boring.

It looks like I will decide between POFQ and AKL. Thanks to all.

How about Caribbean Beach? It has the largest rooms of all the moderates which is nice when you have kids with you, plus the privacy curtain between the bathroom/sink area and the rest of the room. (Not sure if the other moderates have since added the curtain, but when I was there in 2002 CBR was the only moderate to have them).

We stayed there when my sons were 13 and 10 and they really enjoyed it. This resort was completely refurbished in the last few years, including the food court/shops/sit down restaurant area.

With YC/BC you have Beaches & Cream and walk through the International GAteway and you ahve all of the World Showcase at your command! Also many choices on the Boardwak as well.

We love the Wilderness Lodge. I have two DD's(7 and 12) who absolutely love it. They love the pool and the slide. Roaring Forks is very convenient for quick meals. The girls absolutely love the boat ride to MK. The lobby is fantastic. I like the fact that it is a compact resort. Th pool is near everything. The geyser is fun to watch. My girls enjoy the mice boats.
