Me and my Fiancé are getting married December 2016 and are going to be spending the beginning portion of our Honeymoon at Disney World! We will be at the world December 11 - December 16 before heading to Paris/London/Euro Disney? We are hoping that we can book a BB while we are there in September (and save some moolah) so we are trying to figure out the details (if any resort types are not included in BB)!!

Which resort do you recommend?
Which "view" do you recommend?
Any other insight and info is appreciated!!

We had an amazing honeymoon at the Wilderness Lodge in 2007. We just booked a standard view room, but were lucky enough to be given a courtyard view room. Either way though it was a nice quiet relaxing place to honeymoon, so that we could get away from the crowds when we wanted to. We particularly enjoyed walking through the "woods" towards Fort Wilderness.

Good luck with your planning, it should be great. In September the last three years the bounceback has been Free Dining, and we took advantage of it twice. I'm not sure the available return dates will extend into December, but hopefully it will work out for you guys.

Looking at your choices, WL will be the most economical but there will be some surrounding construction to deal with. We really liked visiting the Boardwalk on our Honeymoon, so that might be a nice option if you don't want as much seclusion. No matter what, with Disney you can't go too wrong.

I voted for the BoardWalk Inn because you mentioned 'saving some money'. It is a lovely resort, in a wonderful location but is not as expensive as the Grand Floridian. The view I would suggest is an Epcot view - you could see the Eifel Tower and high Illuminations fireworks from your balcony! Also, walking into International Gatweay and into World Showcase is a quick and easy walk. We love walking into International Gateway. The quiet pool at BWI is so pretty - surrounded by gardens. The access to great restaurants, the fun night time entertainment on the Boardwalk and the quick walk to Epcot and DHS are why my vote goes to BWI!

I would suggest a Boardwalk View - they are amazing!! So fun!

If nothing has changed, only suites at the Poly have king size beds. That was one of the things that kept me from staying there on my honeymoon (the other thing was the cost). Maybe it won't bother you to have two queens on your honeymoon, but I wanted the king.

Of your other choices, I'd probably pick the Wilderness Lodge for the Christmas decorations, or the Boardwalk. I've never really been attracted to the Grand Floridian, but would probably jump at staying there if somehow it fell into my budget.
We ended up staying at AKL and LOVED it!

Kings are now in regular rooms and not just suites. You can look on Tikiman's site for floor plans of the longhouses and you'll be able to see which longhouses have king beds. We had a king bed in Samoa last year.

I think the ultimate would be the GF Main Building TPV, but the WL Honeyroom Suites on CL are adorable!!!

Good luck deciding and congrats on your upcoming wedding!!

I have stayed at the Poly, WL, and the GF. I would recommend the Poly! I haven't stayed in one of the new studios yet but I would try to stay in one of those as they have a couch instead of a second bed and they are recently renovated.

I love how laid back and relaxing the Poly is while still having so much to do. You could watch wishes from the beach, hang at trader sams grog grotto, listen to live music on trader sams terrace with drinks, eat at Ohana and Kona (tonga toast), go to spirit of aloha dinner show, Rent mini boats, get dole whips, hang at the pool or beach, and visit other resorts for seeing and dining. I think I would prefer the MK area because seeing the castle from the resort makes you feel like you're in the middle of the magic all the time! Plus, you have the monorail to MK and Epcot (with 5 min walk to TTC) which is really convenient and the GF you would have to transfer monorails to get to Epcot instead of walking to the TTC.

Ps. You might want to look into renting DVC points and see if it saves you money. People say you can stay at deluxe resorts for much less by renting points but you lose the flexibility of cancelling your reservation. I have never done it but there is a thread that explains more in the DVC section of the disboards.

I would rent DVC points to save money and stay at the Grand Floridian, Polynesian or Beach Club (even though it's not on your list - the pool and location are great!!!).

We had a wonderful time way back in 1977 at the Poly. Yes, that was before couples generally honeymooned in WDW.

If the Poly is done with construction, I would recommend the Poly, if not, the WL.
Really though any of your 4 choices would be great, its more personal taste.

Best Wishes on your Wedding.

It seems like you have plenty of time to do this, but renting DVC points at 11 months out can oftentimes save money. I know for our honeymoon in November my fiance and I will be doing a split stay at Polynesian, POFQ and Animal Kingdom. There are so many great resorts at WDW that really you can't go wrong.

Of course, saying that I had always wanted to honeymoon at GF (since I was in high school), so I would probably say GF or Polynesian.

I love the GF-it's where we go when we want to celebrate something special. I love staying in the main building and listening to the music from our room or the club lounge. It's so convenient to get on the monorail and be in the MK with one stop. There are so many great dining options too! BWI is a very close second. It's a little more "adult", and it won't have the crazy Lobby that GF will have at that time of year with everyone coming to see the decorations and gingerbread house. You can walk to dinner at all the other hotels around the lake and easily get to HS and EPCOT as well.

I have stayed at WL 2x, one courtyard and one CL and I just didn't enjoy the theming. Have never stayed at GF, but while it looks lovely, I can not justify spending the money. I know many like the Boardwalk, but we haven't yet as we prefer Beach Club when doing a deluxe stay. So, my vote was for Poly! We are currently driving to WDW. We are spending 6 nights at Coronado and 7 nights at Brach Club. Then my parents are taking our 8 year old to Legoland. So, we booked 2 extra nights at Poly as we felt it was the most romantic resort!

I'm going to throw out the Animal Kingdom Lodge (either book Jambo through Disney or look into renting points for Kidani). My wife and I are going to WDW for our 2nd Wedding Anniversary and we were told by many people that the AKL Resorts are some of the most romantic due to their remote location and theming. We are renting points and saving a ton of money that way (it's the only way we can afford Deluxe) but I understand people's trepidation to do that. If we could have gotten points at the GF, Poly, CR, or WL we would have tried one of those but they weren't available. So, once we started talking to people and researching, we realized that AKL might actually be an awesome idea even though it wasn't a MK resort like we wanted.

My vote was for Boardwalk. That is my dream. If my husband was voting he would vote for Grand Floridian. That's his dream resort. I love the look of the Boardwalk area.

We did the BWI and WL on our honeymoon, and the BWI definitely felt more like a honeymoon resort, as the WL felt like it had more of a family feel to it.

THe GF also felt more adult, and the Poly was great at night, however it also had a much more family feel about it.

It is Christmas time and there is no better resort than WL for enjoying the feel of the holidays. The them ing of the hotel 8s great any time of the year but Christmas is perfect. We spent 7 nights there last year in mid December and it was perfect. Book the club level and enjoy an amazing honeymoon.
