Help with Half Board Meal Vouchers

Sorry I’m back again with another question. We are still unsure about whether to buy the half board meal vouchers for dining at DLP.

I was put off as I thought you were restricted to a set menu when using the vouchers. However, I have heard that you can use them at their face value of £28/31 euros and then just pay the difference? Can you do this?

Also, we have booked Inventions but it looks like they only accept the premium vouchers but could we use the plus vouchers at face value and pay the difference?

I know we won’t save that much money buying the vouchers but thought it would be helpful to not have to carry as much cash around with us.

Any help on this appreciated.

Thanks

There is much debate about this and I think we all agree there is not really any saving. Certainly not the 15% that there used to be.

The main advantage is that you have budgeted for your food. If, like me, you like to know that your main meal is paid for and you don't want to be counting out/budgeting whilst there, then they are a good idea.

We used them 2 years ago and used them at face value in a few places without any problem. We didn't get them last time - and felt a bit 'ripped off' when looking for places to eat - it feels like you're paying more when you hand over hard cash :rotfl: I stress about never having enough money (we always do in the end) but it just felt more relaxed when we had the vouchers.

We also booked ahead (you don't need to) and I liked knowing where we were going to be each night for our meals and made sure we were in the best area. There is nothing worse than everyone being exhausted and hungry, traipsing from one end of the park to the other, only to find out your choice of restaurant is either closed or packed out.

We also felt that we tried places we probably wouldn't have done if we were paying cash.

As said, there is no real saving. However, I did notice that if you are going to eat at any buffet restaurants you do get a drink included with the voucher. You don't when paying cash.

We will get them next time.

Yes, you can use them at face value and then pay the difference. We have Premium vouchers booked for this trip, but I'm not sure if we will end up saving any money this time - I think we will when we go to Inventions, and will break even on BBWWS, but if we use them to pay for the meal at Blue Lagoon, we may even miss out - so I am thinking of using them at face value instead for that restaurant (a couple of adult vouchers may be enough to pay for the whole meal).

Do you know yet where you will be eating. You don't loose money on the vouchers using them at face value but you need to make sure you use all the vouchers you have paid for:goodvibes

Thanks for all your replies.

I’ve had a look at quite a few of the menus and it looks like we would not really save much using the vouchers either for the set menu or at their face value but it would be the convenience of having one of our meals each day paid for. Am I right that you can only use one voucher each day? I.e. we could not use one for lunch and another for dinner.

So far, we have booked Café Mickey for our Daughters 4th birthday, Beavers Creek Tavern at Sequoia Lodge (staying there), Restaurant De Stars and Inventions. We are also hoping to eat at Annette’s and possibly Walts. :)

You can definately use vouchers for both lunch and dinner on the same day if you want to (as long as both restaurants accept vouchers) but you can only buy one voucher per person for each night of your stay.

I believe you can only use one voucher per person at each meal (so you couldn't use 2 standard vouchers to pay for one adult to eat at inventions for example) but someone might correct me on that:goodvibes
