Hi, I have only ever been on direct flights before so I'm not sure what to expect this September when we have 1 stop for each way of our trip..

We are flyng from seattle to MCO and it stops once in North Carolina..

When we get to NC, will our luggage transfer automatically or will we need to collect it and then check it in again for the new flight? Do we have to go through the check in procedure all over again, or since its just a transfer is there a quicker way to get to the next plane?

We are on US airways all the way down, so no airline switching. And then we have United all the way back up (so no airline switching again).

Thanks for any help, I just want to be prepared since there will be 4 adults and a 2yr old that have never made transfers before, lol.

I haven't flown US Airways before, but have had stops with both Delta and Southwest. Both times we did not have to pick up our checked bags, as they were checked all the way thru to our final destination from our original airport. Also, we just had to find our way from our gate, to the gate our next flight was taking off from. All of this is on the secure side of security, so no crossing out and then having to go back thru security.

On our most recent trip DH thought he may have to go back out past security to have a cigarette, but Atlanta had a smoking area on the secure side for him to use. (he is a bit of a cranky traveller, and if he has to go all day without a smoke it is much worse)

Once you check your baggage in Seattle, that's the last you'll see of it until you get to Orlando. When you land in N. Carolina, you will deplane (you will be in the secure area) and just need to find your departure gate and relax until you board the flight to Orlando.

It'll be the same coming back.
