Help with flight deals from YVR to LAX...

Sweethannah - We flew YVR to SNA direct for 149 each way last Sept on WestJet. Direct.
Quick and SO easy. I will try never to go to LAX again.

Hi,

I am another Vancouver resident who votes for Bellingham! Last May 4 of us on Allegiant for just under $1000 return.

In September I flew 1 way from LAX to YVR for $139 on Westjet.

I also have the Alaska airlines Mastercard and the $99 companion fare is great - flying seattle to Fort Lauderdale later this year for under $400 one way!

I am sure there will be a seat sale or two before you go which hopefully you can take advantage of.

Enjoy!

We flew on westjet direct into SNA which was nice and close. It was $99 each way + tax for the YVR-SNA portion. (it was actually only $189 all the way from Yellowknife!) It's really a matter of watching. If you life westjet on facebook it's an easy way to always see the Thursday deal which often includes flights to different U.S. locations

From Vancouver the smaller airports, SNA etc are too expensive and you have to change planes ( probably ).

Allegiant is currently only accepting reservations thru to the middle of August.

I too am planning to visit Disneyland ( woohoo! ) around the same time as you, the 13-20 October and I am currently pricing out Alaska Airlines vacations for the entire package. They are coming in at about 800$ less expensive than Westjet.

Flights from YVR to SNA on westjet are direct. It's just a matter of getting the right price. My daily routine was to start the day with coffee and checking airfare. I booked in November I think for March.

we are flying YVR to LAX for four for 1500.00 via air canada.
I just don't know if we'll get home if they strike!:rotfl2:
(i can think of worse places to be stranded).:thumbsup2
I like to fly non stop so bellingham wasn't a good option for us.
Seattle was cheaper except for the commute, extra night in a hotel and extra night to pay the house sitter.
From YVR we save on parking too since we get dropped off at the airport.

Hi there! Another BCer here. Just wanted to share our experiences although I am sure that I am probably just echoing what others have already said. We usually fly SEA to LGB. We are going this coming October as well & paid $760 on Alaska for 4 of us. We do a park, stay & fly the night before so we are good to go for our 7am flight (24hr hotel shuttle to airport). I find that it is a great deal for parking & the convenience it provides. I didn't look at jetblue when I booked as it wasn't booking that far out yet. :confused3
If you could get a good deal out of Bellingham on Alaska I would go for that! Although does it have a stop in Seattle? But parking there is cheap, it is much closer & a great little airport (we flew out of there to Hawaii last year).

We are flying out of Bellingham to SNA in May and our flights were $724 for 3 people -return, taxes in. Bellingham is great to fly out of- and we are flying with Alaska Air

We are also from bc, but we are on the island...for us, regardless, we have the ferry and a night In a hotel, so the money we save with the 2 1/2-3 drive is so worth it to us to fly out of Seattle...we are flying for $720 for 4 of us in may :cool1: I was able to get our flight and 10 nights at the HOJO( all nights at the retro rate)for pretty much what it would have cost us to fly out of Vancouver! I have heard airfare is only going to go up, and I so hope this isn't true :scared1: good luck and hope you find a good deal, I wish airfare wasn't so crazy out of yvr or off the island :sad2:

Wow there are a lot of us. Marpole/South Van here.

We got $300ea YVR-LAX on Westjet in April, incl tax. Sure the flights were cheaper from Bellingham but with bag fees and parking it ended up being almost equal. I would cross the border for big savings, but not minor savings. YVR is 10min Skytrain ride away, so it's hard to ignore that.

Wouldn't mind doing the drain to Seattle sometime though!

Hey Neighbors! :wave2:

Wow, thanks for all the great help!

We are watching every day and all day throughout the day.

So far we have gotten close to booking but then waited and the prices jumped up like $100 pp:scared1:

Next time we won't wait as long to book never mind the fact that we are only 56 days away:hyper:

:thumbsup2

Last week we bought flights through JetBlue from Seattle to long beach for end of September/beggining of October. For four of us to fly round trip it cost us $440, plus with JetBlue you get one checked bag free. I know it's a pain to drive to Seattle but for those prices it's worth it. We will drive down the night before we leave and stay at a park sleep fly hotel where if you stay one night you can park at the hotel for a week. You can't even get one round trip flight from yvr for that prices!!!!!!

We're flying AS from YVR-LAX, Oct 4-8. There's a 610am flight that gives us all of the 4th there, plus the flight home is at 905pm, giving us most of the day on the 8th. We did a package vacation, and all in including the Tropicana, 5 day PH for the price of 4, character meals and transfers was $2800 for my family of 4. Not too shabby. That's booking through Alaska's website.

We booked Allegiant from Bellingham to San Diego for $141.50 round trip all taxes in. SUH-WEET!:thumbsup2:cool1:

Also I don't think Mainlanders get to complain about having to drive ALL the way to Bellingham for a cheaper flight. It's $150 round trip just to get off the island. :crazy2:

A couple options to consider. If you were willing to do the drive to Seattle, the airfare prices are considerably lower. There are some great park-sleep-fly packages out of there. (when we went to Hawaii last year, the cost to stay and park in Seattle was less than YVR parking).

If you don't want the drive, we used the Alaska Air credit card. If you sign up, they give you 25000 airmiles which is enough for 1 ticket return to LA, you also get a $99 companion fare, which would cover the 2nd ticket.

Other than that, you have a bit of time, so you might want to watch for some seat sales. They seem to come up fairly regularly with West Jet and Air Canada.

Alaska credit card is great option (one we now use). As well, we noticed when we booked that flights from Bellingham to Seattle to SNA (John Wayne) were cheaper than from Seattle to SNA/LAX. Good luck!

I would definitely NOT recommend Allegiant. Yes, they frequently have very cheap fares, but their customer service is abysmal, and their flights are very frequently delayed. The one and only time we got "cheap" flights on Allegiant, they canceled the flight, wouldn't reschedule us for three days, and it ended up costing us over $1200 additional to not have our vacation ruined (by flying Alaska).

When I looked at their ratings on airlinequality.com, it seems this is pretty standard operating procedure for them.

Another BC'er checking in.

I've flown Allegient out of BLI to LAX several times and it is a direct flight. I believe there is a stop over in SEA if you are flying into one of the other airports.

I've always had excellent service with Alligient. One time I had a serious blond moment and screwed up my online booking and had us coming home the same day we got there (oops) and when I called they changed my return flights and didn't charge me any change fees and actually saved me money! A friend of mine also had a booking snafu and once again, they changed it no problems, no fees.

Thanks for the great idea!:cool1:

We ended up going with SEA to LAX because we got Alaska flying down and Virgin coming back to SEA for $104 each way pp.:cheer2:

We booked a hotel in Federal Way for $150 and that includes a 2 room suite...plus 10 days of (secured) parking, shuttle to/from airport and warm full breakfast for EVERYONE in our party (3 adults and a 4 yr old and a 12 yr old)...::yes::

I wish I could of stayed with Westjet but they can't match that...:sad2:

I know...we just moved to the mainland. We used to do the ferry..drive to airport/border thing...

LONG LONG days.:crazy2:

Now it is easier that we live in New Westminster, BC. We frequently just drive across the border for something to do.:beach:

Hello fellow BC'ers! We're from Port Coquitlam...we booked SEA to LAX for $149 return on Virgin America. We've never flown Virgin before but for the price, it was too good to pass up! We usually fly Allegiant from Bellingham but their flights just didn't work out for us this trip (Oct 11-16th). The drive to Seattle is definately worth it for our family of 6...we do it quite frequently and its never taken us more than 2 hours to get to Seattle. We are staying in Seattle the night before, hotel, breakfast and can leave our vehicle there for up to 7 days. Can't wait!!!!!!:)
