Help with finding room for Daytona 500 in Feb 2010....

My husband would love to go to the Daytona 500 in Feb 2010, but I know it will be difficult to find a room in Daytona at this late date. I was thinking of giving the trip as a Christmas gift, but as I am not familiar with the area, can someone tell me where I might find a room in a nearby area that would not be too far of a drive or might even have a shuttle to the speedway?

Deltona is about 20 minutes away. Look on google maps for cities around Daytona. Traffic will be the biggest problem.

We stay at Disney and drive over..........lots of traffic. We have since switched to the Shootout which we both really love.

Again, we stay at Disney...adults only trip for 4 nights.

How long a drive is it with the traffic and how about distance from parking lot to the seats? I was hoping to not have to drive in the traffic. Would be nice to get a hotel and have a cab drop us off!

Have you checked the nascar site at all? They sometimes sell packages that include hotel and tickets and sometimes even shuttle service.

If you look on the specific website for the dayton 500 it will give suggestions for hotels in the surrounding area.

Both times we went to the 500 we stayed at The Marriott Lake Mary through Priceline. Great price and not a bad drive. Sure there will be traffic, just get an early start.
