Hello All!!!!
We have tickets on airtran. My MIL is going with us. She has her own ECV. Do airline charge you to bring it on with you. We don't need it to get her on the plane just when we are in disney. We are flying with airtran. I email them and they said she could bring it but didn't say if it cost. Thanks!!!!

it is medical equipment so it should not cost.

What you will do when you check in tell the people at the counter that you want to "gate check" the ECV. They will give you a special tag to put on it. When you board the plane you can leave the ECV at the bottom of the ramp at the entrance to the aircraft. They will get in downstairs ind into the plane luggage compartment.

When you get to the destination the ECV will show up at the aircraft door.

A few important things. Take of anything that can easily be detached, such as a basket, and take it on the plane with you. Take the key with you. Make a fairly large and visible sign showing where the "freewheel" lever is, and which position is freewheel and which is locked, make sure the sign is visible (tape it to the ECV) so it can be pushed but also locked into place.

Bring something along (such as the manual) so if there is any question you can show that the batteries are gel/spillproof and not liquid.

To add to the information that was already posted, they are not allowed to charge for equipment that people need because of a disability.

I can't thank you all enough. This is my mother in law first trip anywhere. She was a single mother and a wonderful lady. This will work so much better than having her try to walk and then renting one when we get down there. Thank you all so much!!!! Once again I just love the dis. I truly love this area. I also have two daughters with disabilities and I don't feel so alone when I get on here!!
