Help with ebay...

If you printed your postage thrrough PayPal they automatically have delivery confirmation. I have found this to be a big help. In my listings I state that I use Delivery Confirmation on items paid with PayPal and that I won't refund without insurance. I don't know if I was getting scammed before, but lo and behold, since I've been doing this I've not had one thing 'go missing'. In this situation, to protect your feedback, it's probably better to just refund and then block them from bidding on your items again.

If they file with pay pal you will receive an email to which you have a set amount of time to respond.

The private feedback has always been a mystery to me. I don't understand why Ebay allows it. To me it is one of the better ways of checking people out. I do not buy from anyone that has private feedback. In my thinking, I just think there is something there I need to know but can't see.

How do you block them from bidding on your items?

Do a search for the Blocking bidders/buyers page. You will be able to enter their user ID. After 10 years on Ebay I have about six names. Most people are great. I would be very leery about Private feedback people. There is also a place to set Buyer Requirements. It may be a good idea to see if blocking Private feedback people is an option. I may need to do that also.

Thanks so much everyone!! I got an email response back. The tone was the same and they claim to have not gotten the item and said they had to purchase another and will ship it back to me. I shouldn't have but I refunded through paypal as you all have suggested and then immediately blocked the bidder. I also realized that they have changed their user id in the last 6 months in addition to having everything be private. I'm glad to be done with that buyer and am glad that they can't buy from me again. Everyone else has received their products and are very satisfied. Thanks everyone!!!

I had the same thing happen....burned once but never again. After years of selling on Paypal ( used to do it regularly, now just sporadically) I've never had a package get lost in the mail to a buyer. This one first emailed me for a DC #. When I said I didn't have one, but did have a receipt, that's when she claimed to have not received the package and she IMMEDIATELY filed with Paypal for a refund. She blamed me for not insisting that she purchase insurance or DC, which at the time I thought was her responsibility if she wanted to be covered. I lost probably $100 on that transaction which was money being raised towards my son's kidney transplant. I of course immediately blocked the bidder but in a later online chat with an ebay rep I was told that I should have reported her to their fraud alert department so they can keep track of her transactions.---Kathy

Thanks! I think I'll do that. I received 4 emails after refunding the money just last night. I can't believe this buyer. Can you report harrassment to ebay? This is starting to get rediculous. I told them that I'd refund the shipping when I received the package back. They also told me that they have been in the process of moving.

I see you've already given a refund. Don't respond to the emails you are receiving. If they continue, file a complaint with ebay stating you are being harassed. You can then forward the messages to ebay if they need them.

Even though their feedback is private, you can still see if they leave negative fb for others. If a buyer has hundreds or thousands of feedbacks left for others it can take a long time to sift through them to find the negatives, but this site is great for that:
http://www.toolhaus.org/

It will pull up only the negative feedback messages that the buyer or seller has left for others so you don't have to sift through all of the positives. Just type in the seller or buyer's ebay ID in the window that says to search for negative/neutral feedback and click the "left by" or "received by" button:

Also make sure to file a unpaid item through eBay so that you can get your fees back. There is an option so that the buyer does not get hit with an unpaid item strike. You never know they may be telling the truth and never recieved the item. You can't tell if you didn't get delivery confirmation.
