OK, I posted on the DVC boards and they just aren't very active, so figured I would give this board a try.

For June, we want to rent points to stay in a DVC Studio! It will be myself, my sister and my two little ones...2 and 5. My sister and I do NOT want to share a bed. The only resort with two beds is OKW.

I really want to stay at BCV, but the sofa bed it seems is pretty uncomfortable! So, can't stay there.

Anyone know how the sofa beds are at BWV? Are they the older style or have they changed them out recently to the more comfortable ones? ALSO, if we do stay there, with standard view room, where are those rooms exactly? All the way on the one end overlooking the parking lot? Can you enter the building on that end or do you enter on the other end, having to walk all the way back that direction?

Also, any thoughts on OKW? My reluctance to staying here is that there isn't much going on there, not like with the BCV and BWV area.

Not interested in SSR or VWL!

The standard rooms are not just at the back of the resort...you can also face the inside entrance area which gives you a view of the higher fireworks from Epcot at the BWV. The sofabed was not a problem for my young son--but he is just six and not really picky. Not sure what type of style you are referring to--this was a pull-out the way I've always seen sofa beds, so I'm guessing it's an older style if there's something else new out that I haven't seen. Our studio was clean, accomodating and lovely. I'd stay again in a heartbeat.

We've also rented at the BCV and this room was really beautiful--much prettier than the regular Beach Club hotel room, IMHO. It was kind of Little Mermaid/ Beach and seemed well-kept and new. Very clean. Sofa bed was same type here at BWV and again, my son had no complaints but doesn't have much experience otherwise to know better. Jets in the BCV hot tub seemed mild so we didn't go in it...instead stuck with SAB. No complaints about either stay--both were wonderful :cloud9:

I wouldn't be worried if it were the kids sleeping on it, but it will be myself or my sister! On the DVC boards, they are saying that SSR just got a refurb on the sofa beds, new ones that are very comfy! Where the older style were typical and NOT comfy at all, you feel the bars. That is what I need to know about the sofa beds at BWV?

Great, got moved to where I posted I had already posted with not much help! Oh well..LOL! Trying to book tomorrow and not sure where to try to book at!

They have not been changed out at the BWV yet. Not sure where they have been changed out. If you don't have a reservation made yet by a DVC member, you need to get going on this. Some places are already sold out in June (BCV for one). A standard view will be extremely hard to get for June now. Only about 20% of the villas are standard view.

SSR and OKW may be your best bet on this right now. Both are beautiful resorts with great pools and excellent bus transportion. OKW has the biggest rooms of all the villas.

SSR is a brand new DVC resort, only been open maybe 1.5 years. So they haven't done any refurbishing at all there. The foam mattresses were installed when they built the resort.

If you posted on the Rent/Trade board, only people looking to make you a reservation can post to you. Next time, try one of the other DVC boards and ask a general question. Then post your message on the R/T board with specifics. Which resort, what days, what size villa, etc. Plan to pay at least $10 per point.

I have heard that some of the sofa beds at BWV and BCV have been replaced - so you may luck out with an extra comfy one!

Here is how I would think of it...if location is the most important aspect of where you stay, I would stick with either BCV or BWV. My brother (25) slept on one of the pullout beds for 9 nights on our last trip, and he never mentioned that they were uncomfortable. I think after walking around all day in the parks, he fell asleep pretty quickly! ;)

Now, I love OKW - and the rooms are very nice with the 2 queen beds. But, it doesn't have that "resort" feel like BCV or BWV. We like how it is somewhat quiet and removed from the regular hustle and bustle - but if that is not what you are looking for, than you may not enjoy that resort. Are you renting a car? A big bonus at OKW is that you can pull up right in front of your room, which is nice. :thumbsup2

Good luck with your decision!! :sunny:

Thanks Deb for your help. I do have someone to rent through, and hope to get it taken care of tomorrow! I think with what you said, we will do OKW this trip and will try to find someone to rent points from for our Dec. trip NOW, at BCV...since that will be DH and I and we can do the sofa bed.

Oh and I posted to this board, the DVC Planning Board, not the R/T board. Just seemed a bit slow here, so tried the regular Resorts board!

Kelly, we do have a car and that is one of the big plusses of OKW for sure! BWVs would be hard in that area, but I want to be in that area!

Man, this is a hard decision to make, didn't expect it to be so much. The more I learn though, the harder it gets.

I would go for BCV. I'm somewhat prejudice in that I own there. My kids love SAB. They at times didn't want to go to the parks they wanted to stay at SAB. My neice and nephew and sister slept in the sofabed and were saying it was really comfy. I also thought when we were walking to EPCOT we saw a few studios with 2 queen beds. I'm not positive though.

I found the sofa bed at BCV to be fine.

the problem was the sofa itself - it is not nice and soft like the other resort.

it is hard and feels like sandpaper. Yes, I know it is water proof - but I think DVC over did the attraction for SALB....

so one of the thinks I like to do - sit on the sofa and talk or watch TV or even eat or drink....forget it. the sofa is just not comfortify
