Planning a California trip with my two teen boys. We'll be visiting friends in LA and plan to treat them to a 1-night stay with us at the Grand Californian. I am a DVC owner but am totally green when it comes to Disneyland!

What are the best rates/rooms available for the hotel? I am a Disneyworld AP holder if that makes a difference. I also own Disney Visa card and am a AAA member. Anyone know the best deals?

Also, how do the passes work - are there 1 or 2 day passes for both parks?

We are planning on being there the 2nd week of July.

I apologize if these are repeat questions - don't have time to search right now.

Thanks to all for your help!

Well 2nd week of July dont expect much discount as its full into the busy season-

The GC as far as I know has 3 different types of rooms the Park View (most $$) Downtown Disney view and Pool view- In the off season DL AP rates can be as low as 159 but those are few and far between- I think AAA gets a discount but not sure if its the 10% of rack rate but in July discounts will prob be few and far between-

There are 1 day park passes ($47) and a 3 day Park Hopper Passes ($119)- there isnt a 2 day as far as I know- You can't park hop on the single day passes

We are also DVC members and visit DL yearly. We have been purchasing the APs just because they gave you the best hotel rates. (They also give you a merchandise and food discount, as well.) This year was different, however. We are going April 23rd for a week at the GC and with the AP still had to pay $297/night for a theme park view. Two years ago we got a theme park view for $199/night, with the AP. Your WDW AP will not get you anything at DL (we have those, as well). I'm not sure about AAA or the Disney Visa, but it sure wouldn't hurt to ask. If you are only staying for one night, I think you would love the theme park view. You are actually looking right into DCA with the monorail running through the park. We love the Grizzly River Rapids side, watching all the activity during the day and the complete peacefulness at night. The GC is a beautiful hotel and we can't wait to return. I'm sure you will love it.

I don't know about the theme park view but I booked GC for second week of July and got city view for $248 with AAA discount. I didn't mind the cityview at all because I was told they come with a daybed so my 2 teen boys won't have to share a bed.

I was told the parkviews do not have the daybed.
