Well I went and put some Disney Rewards on my card that will expire Dec 2012. I had two Disney Cruises scheduled this Fall so I knew I would get to use them, or so I thought... My problem is this I had to cancel my Oct cruise due to my Father-in-law passing away 2 days before we were to leave and then on my Nov cruise I had to cancel due to my husband having to have emergency Open Heart surgery(yep we have had a very long fall and I can't wait for the new year) so I didn't get to use them on either one of those trips.

So I need help trying to figure out the best way to use the $68 in rewards I have on my card. I have looked on Disney.com and nothing really jumped out at me and I'm worried if they are out of stock and want to give me a credit what will happen if my card is expired or will in days? Do I buy a 1 day pass? or the question is can I buy just 1 pass on the Disney website? Can I put the rewards toward a 1 night stay at Disney World in April 2013, even thou they expire in Dec? or on my balance on the cruise we have booked in April 2013?( yes we are trying again to make it on the ship) Now my question is this if I can use them on a room reservation or my cruise and we have to cancel again will I loose those rewards if the cancellation is done after the card expires?

I'm hoping someone out there has had experence with rewards and can direct me towards the best choice so I won't loose my $68.

Thanks

Could you maybe go to local disney store and buy a disney gift card? Another idea is buy a 50.00 gift card from online and that leaves you 18.00 you need to "use" I would think you could apply funds to either Cruise or room and if refund needed I'd think they could give you a gift card or something but I'd ask on that.

If you have a trip booked, can't you apply the balance towards that? As long as you "use" them by the end of December, there shouldn't be any problem even though the trip isn't until later.

I took my rewards card to my local Disney store and bought Disney gift cards with the reward dollars. I confirmed with the manager that I could do it, and she said it was no problem at all.

Thanks for the gift card idea I never thought of that I will check into that.

Thanks

I just had the same problem and ordered a gift card at disneystore online. I added a few more reward point $ to the rewards card in addition to the $88 I had expiring to make it $100 even so no $ would be wasted. The gift card arrived a few days later with no problem. I am saving it for a cruise we are taking in the spring. :)

Keep in mind that there are pros and cons with exchanging your Disney Rewards Redemption Cards (DRRC) for Disney Gift Cards. The only pro can be a big one ... you do not have an expiration date on Disney Gift Cards. The main con is that the DRRC has perks that go above and beyond a normal gift card. If you use it at certain Disney restaurants, the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, or certain stores at Disney, you get a 10% discount off your bill taken off before you use your card.

The discount that you're thinking of comes from using your Disney Visa, not the rewards card that comes from having used your Visa.

Are there no DVDs that you'd want to buy? That's what I would have looked at first.

I used my leftover Disney Reward points after my last trip to buy a Disney gift card that never expires. You can do this on Disneyshopping.com and it's free shipping. I think I had to kick in a couple dollars on my credit card to bring it to an even $50, but no worries in having any points expiring. Easy peasey!
