Thank you to those of you who responded to my Italian food choice post. I'm thinking now I might need to run all of my choices by you guys. For those who didn't see that one I am planning a trip for a friend and her family. She wants me to do every bit of it, doesn't want to be involved at all. I have been to WDW many times and am great for their fastpasses, parks, etc. but I am a very picky eater and I do not have children so planning their meals has been difficult. My friend will eat most anything, but her husband is a meat and potatoes kind of guy, nothing too adventurous although he does like Italian, German, and seafood. They also have an eight year old daughter so I need kid friendly. I am trying to not do many at other resorts because I know traveling between resorts is going to confuse the heck out of them so I'm trying to keep it simple. Right now what I have is Liberty Tree Tavern (dinner), Tusker House (breakfast), Homecomin' (lunch). I need 2-3 more places for them. One needs to be in Epcot and the other two are pretty flexible. They are not going to Hollywood Studios though so let's forget anything there. Their daughter is very shy and they are concerned she won't want to meet characters so I am planning one character meal (Tusker) thinking it might be less intimidating in a restaurant setting. Plus it's the only character meal I am scheduling in case she doesn't like that either. I considered Whispering Canyon for dinner one night. I know I said no resorts, but they are staying at Fort Wilderness and I believe there is a boat that goes to Wilderness Lodge so that shouldn't be to complicated. Any thoughts, suggestions?

Epcot:

Biergarten: Never eaten there but those with a "meat and potato" appetite really seem to enjoy the guest interactions, ambiance and food. Seems to fit into the wants of the husband well.Sit the young lady at the end of the communal table and she wont need to communicate with others if not inclined.
Via Napoli: something for everyone menu wise. If you think they won't like Neapolitan style pizza there is always Pizza Ponte @ DS's Sicilian style pizza by the slice.
Cape May: I know you said not so big on traveling to resorts but this one is simple to get to from Epcot.

Since the young lady is shy and of an age where character meal interests are on the cusp I'd consider switching to Flame Tree and opting in to a character meet @ AK instead.

HTH.

I also suggest Cape May if the husband is a seafood fan. I also suggest:

- Whispering Canyon
- Via Napoli in Epcot
- Ohana Dinner at the Poly (Easy to get to from MK)

In EP, I would suggest Biergarten if the DH likes German food. Just know, they will be seated with other families, but they aren't required to interact if they choose not to. If that doesn't appeal, as PP suggested, the Cape May dinner seafood buffet is at BC, about a 5 minute walk from the EP IG entrance.

I think Whispering Canyon is a good choice. Yes, it's just a boat ride away from Ft. W. It's fun and definitely fits the "meat and potatoes" bill. They could also go to Trails End right at Ft. W or, if they are willing to splurge a little, HDDR at Ft. W is a ton of fun!

If the husband likes meat Ohana's and if you schedule the meal for 20:00 hours or later you can watch the MK fireworks (with music piped in) from there and for the little one coconut races. Like another poster suggested Whispering Canyon Café.. the all you can eat skillet is great and if you get into the antics its a hoot. I once drank my diet coke to fast for the waitress and she brought me back a drink with 7 or 8 diet cokes in it. And if they are staying at Fort Wilderness have you you tubed Hoop De Do Revue?

Thank you all for the suggestions so far! I have done Whispering Canyon myself and it's awesome if you play along so I think I will definitely book that for them. I will probably send her the menus and give them the option between beirgarten and Cape May. They want to do the Halloween Party so would Liberty Tree Tavern be a good option for an early dinner that night?

Liberty Tree Tavern is a good idea and I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal or anything less than perfect service. Of course I have never completely forgiven them for taking the characters out of the place.

Biergarten in Epcot if he likes German food, and the show at night would be fun for the child. Whispering Canyon or Trails End (at Fort Wilderness) are both great for the meat and potatoes crowd and easy to get to from MK.
My seafood loving crew was not a fan of Cape May (I don't eat it seafood myself, and I went along and was miserable) and everyone left still feeling somewhat hungry. This time DH and DS (along with my dad) are going to try Garden Grove. (easy to get to from Epcot or Hollywood Studios). That meal also includes characters, so might be another option for seafood and child fun.

If you’re at Epcot, you could take a quick boat (right there between bridge and France on the left) to the Boardwalk, look at those restaurants for options as well! (Beaches & Cream, Cape May, Ale & Compass) Depends on how picky? Steak and potatoes is doable, every DW restaurant has a version of it. Hollywood studios, Sci-Fi has good food and is lots of fun, Mama Melrose has decent Italian food, love the Brown Derby, but stay away from the 50’s Prime Time, not for the shy!

Garden Grove is also on my short list for them, whether it's breakfast or lunch/dinner I'm not sure. Possibly Be Our Guest as well. Who knew it could be so hard choosing reservations for someone else. I've been multiple times and eaten at many of these restaurants, but it's so different when it's other peoples money and tastes on the line.

MK - LTT is a good choice.
Not sure if Ohanas would be too adventurous, but easy to get to from MK.
EPCOT - consider Coral Reef. The food is average, but their daughter would love the aquarium.
Biergarten - another good choice if the dad likes German food and enough to keep the daughter entertained.
I would consider HDDR since they are staying right there.
Whispering Canyon seems like a good choice.

As of now I have Liberty Tree Tavern, Whispering Canyon, Trail's End, Homecoming, and Tusker House Booked. I am pretty set on the first four, still debating about Tusker House or not. I sent the menu options for Biergarten and Cape May to my friend and am letting her decide. I need one last choice and/or two if I change Tusker House. Is Be Our Guest worth it for breakfast? I've heard mixed reviews and it's one place I haven't gotten to try yet so I'm no help in that dept. Thank you all again for the suggestions.

I think you've made good choices based on their food preferences. You had asked earlier if LTT is a good choice prior to MNSSHP and my vote is yes! We always like to have an early TS dinner in MK before the parties to let the crowds subside a bit when the party guests start mingling with the day guests at 4 pm. We love Tusker House (it's our favorite character meal). If you change TH, are you looking for something in Animal Kingdom? If so, you might want to consider Rainforest Cafe. It's not great food, but it's standard fare and there is a bit of an entertainment factor with the moving animals. I, personally, wouldn't do BOG breakfast. Mediocre, expensive food during prime MK touring hours. Are you looking for a breakfast? If so, they could take the boat over to CR one morning and go to the Wave which is very good. Or, if you need a dinner in the MK area, both the Wave and GF Cafe are very good and don't have terribly adventurous food.

BOG is out and unfortunately so is Tusker House. That one is HARD for me to drop because it's one of my favorites. I have to keep reminding myself this is their trip, not mine, however, and their daughter just decided she really wants a princess meal and they only want to do one character meal so Tusker House has to go I suppose. Now I am torn between 1900 Park Fare dinner, Akershus dinner, or Akershus breakfast. Any thoughts? I realize there are a couple other princess meals, but they either take two meal credits or aren't the most conveniently located.

I would, personally, do one of the Akershus meals over 1900. The daughter will see a greater variety of princesses and I think the interaction and atmosphere is better at Akershus as well. Honestly, I've like all of our meals at Akershus. Perhaps pick the meal time that works best with their schedule? Or the one which has a menu that appeals most. I like breakfast, lunch and dinner there, so I'm no help!

Akershus will give her more princesses, 1900 for dinner will only be Cinderella and then the Prince, Step Mother and step sisters. So Id say Akershus.

Also California Grill is amazing and easy to get to from WL. Especially if they get a later rez and watch the fireworks

I think Tusker House is a good choice to keep. If their little girl doesn't like the characters surely they will move on quickly.
Ops just read she wants princesses. We liked 1900 Park Fare. We have not done Akershus
