Our dd 4th birthday is tomorrow. We had the kid party on Sunday, but I am trying to come up with some basic ideas to celebrate her actual day as a family. I would like to avoid the usual Chuck E. Cheese, if possible. I was thinking of looking up some recipies online and she could make her own dinner? Not quite sure what else. Any suggestions on how to make her actual day special? Thanks!

Hang up streamers and balloons on her door before she wakes up in the morning. Bake a cake, sing, blow out the candles. Rent a favorite movie. Making a dinner together sounds great!

Have fun!

Let her eat whatever she wants for breakfast. Let her help make a cake or some cupcakes. Tell her she is in control of the TV remote all day long. Take her to a restaurant where they have balloons and sing happy birthday.

My kids love that streamers on the door thing. I also one year filled my too cool turnig 10 year old's bathroom with orange balloons- I mean filled it! they all came piling out when he opened the door:rotfl2: !
Familyfun.com has a birthday section and just this month they did some birthday ideas in the magazine- look there for some great ideas! And as this may be her first "memory" kind of birthday it may be a good time to start a tradition with her!

I love the streamers on the door. My take on it is to use a colored plastic tablecloth (or paper one). Write or draw on it, then cut it into streamers about three-quarters of the way up. Tape the upper un-cut end to her door frame. Then it is a picture/writing, but she can walk through it.

I got this from the february family fun.

Kat3668, I love that link - some great ideas there! I'll let you know what I end up using...still brainstorming, but these are all great ideas. Thanks everyone!!

My birthday is tomorrow also! Tell my fellow Aries I said Happy Birthday!!

Let it be her day. I remember that DD5(then 3) wanted to build a fort so we put all the dining room and kitchen chairs in the living room and covered it with all the big blankets--we ate in there and played with her dolls and made scary faces with flashlights,we colored and even napped together in there.

Find out what she wants to do and do it!

Happy Birthday. Yesterday was my DS's 9th birthday and tomorrow is my DD's 6th birthday.

On their actual birthdays we just open presents, eat dinner - their choice - DS wanted Pizza - DD wants Chinese tomorrow - then we do cake and answer the phone when everybody calls to talk to them :) The day before their birthdays they each get to help me make whatever it is they are taking to school so Sunday DS and I made brownies and DD and I just finished making cupcakes(PINK of course - lol)

ETA: I also sing my kids awake and start the day off by telling them the "Story of the day they were born" while we go through the photo albums of them as newborns in the hospital etc :) They love it!

Happy Birthday. Yesterday was my DS's 9th birthday and tomorrow is my DD's 6th birthday.

How funny! Yesterday was MY birthday, and (obviously) tomorrow is DD!!!

Happy birthday to all the March babies!

These are all great ideas. I'm still brainstorming a bit, but I have a few things up my sleeve...I'll keep you posted and let you know what worked. Thanks!
