Help with clarifying banked points and use year.

I first went to thank everyone on these boards in advance for all your help and advice.

My use month is June. I banked 162 points from 2019 into 2020. So, I currently have 362 points available for 2020. So, if understand everything correctly, I will have from June 1st 2020 till May 31st 2021 to use these points.

I want to book Vero Beach for the end of August 2021. Can I book all my points 7 months out in late February 2021 for August 2021? I always understood you can book past the use year, as long as you book that future trip during the use year.

My other scenario is that I bank my 2020 points in January moving them to 2021. That would leave me with 162 points from 2019 needed to be used by May 31st 2021. With that said, can I use those 162 points to book August 2021 in February or anytime before May 31st? And then also use banked 2020 points that are now in 2021 for August 2021?

I am trying not to lose points.

Have there been any extensions for using points granted by DVC yet?

Everything is based on the UY of travel for the trip, not when you call to book it.

An Aug 2021 trip is in your June 2021 UY. When you call to book, you can pay for it with banked points from 2020, 2021 points, and borrow up to 50% of your 2022 points to finish the reservation

Since your banked 2019 points expire May 31st, you can not use them for an August 2021 trip, even though you are calling when they are valid,

The only extensions for 6 months of banked points were ones that actually expired during the closure....April and June UY 2018 points.

As I understand it the use year is when points have to be used by. If your ones expired 31st May 2021 and you want to travel in August 2021 those points will have expired.

As above, your use year which is when you need to use them by. So you would need to use them by 31st May, not just book it. You can book any time 7 months out for other resorts and 11 months for home resort.

If you are going to lose points you could always rent them out.

I just booked DH and myself a trip during Food and Wine (1st time) in mid November 2020. 3 nights at SSR and 2 at Rivera Resort. Fingers crossed that this can happened.

I have been dreaming of RR. It looks gorgeous

If not I will book something for late Spring 2021.
