Help with child's halloween costume

Hi,

I KNOW it's kind of early for Halloween, but here where I live children's Halloween events start in early October, and I NEED help finding a costume for my 3 year old ds!

He LOVES Blue's Clues, aw: but my dh doesn't want him dressing up in one of those hot and stuffy Blue dog jackets, and also he has it in his mind that the Blue's Clues dog costume is for girls . (which I kindof see, since after all Blue IS a girl dog! lol)

So we are looking for any costume to dress him up like Steve or Joe. Anyone know where we can get a costume, or one those "Steve" or "Joe" shirts? TIA!!

You might be able to find a rugby shirt at Old Navy and you'd definitely be able to find khaki pants there. I think it would be easy to make one of Joe's shirts. You could just get a solid colored long sleeve t-shirt and sew or glue (using fabric glue) on felt squares across the chest. Maybe you could get a stuffed Blue for your son to carry around with him.

Sears had the Steve shirt a few years back. They may still sell them. If not, check on eBay.

It has been couple of years since my boys were Blues Clues fans but I remember getting Steve shirts at Sears.

Also, I thought Blue was a boy dog and Magenta was a girl dog. Is Blue really a girl? I always assumed Blue was a boy. My DS went as Blue when he was 3 and it was a lightweight outfit bought at Party City I believe.

I would also check Sear's clothing. They used to carry Blue's Clues shirts that were identical (6 years ago, my son was Steve for Halloween.) You might even check Ebay.

It's pretty sad that I know this but Blue is a girl, Periwinkle is a boy and Magenta is a girl. I think Blue was made a girl because at the time there weren't many cartoon girl characters for preschoolers.

Thanks Everyone. I ended up going to the Nick Jr website and getting the Joe outfit. I looked at Sears.com and at the Target online site, but they didn't have anything. I looked at Ebay's Steve stuff , but a lot of ppls stuff was WAY more expensive than the new stuff on Nick Jr ! hehe aw:
