Okay I ordered my birth certificate from the town I was born in
so it has a raised seal.

My husband was born in NY and they use vitalcheck but his certificate is a typed up certification of birth.
He asked before he ordered it if it would have a raised seal, it does not

The form does have "security features" but I'm not sure it will be accepted.

Any advice?

Thanks Cheryl

As long as it is a CERTIFIED COPY issued from the state or county it will be fine, even without the raised seal. :) Not all states and counties have raised seals on their certified copies.

I got some good advice on this from someone on these boards, may it was Dave_from_Marietta who said that if you are in doubt at all, go to your closest passport office (it's usually in the main PO of your town or the next biggest town) and ask the agent if it would be accepted for obtaining a passport. If s/he says yes, DCL will accept it.

ps: Mine is from NY also, it has no raised seal, and I got my new passport just fine.
