Hi all!!! After much discussion, we have decided to split our stay....3 nights at the AKL, and 5 nights at our favorite...the CR. Just called Disney and changed our reservations and booked Concierge. Was advised that there weren't any "Savannah view" Concierge rooms available, only "Standard view". I told the CM that my understanding was that in 2008 all Concierge rooms had Savannah views (which is what I read on these boards). He said that was not the case. I booked the "standard" view anyway...but hope the CM was incorrect... we'll just keep our fingers crossed. :rolleyes1 :thumbsup2 Anyone have the "inside skinny" on what's going on ????
TKS!!!;)

I just booked our DVC stay at AKV savannah view. I waitlisted for concierge rooms, and was told that if we got concierge that they could not guarentee savannah view. The rooms line both sides of the hallway, so half are savannah view and the other half are standard view. Hope that helps.

One question....why did you choose conceirge? We never thought we would use the ammenities do you feel you get your money worth with so much time spent away from the room? Just want you opinion.

I thought all CL rooms were on the 4th floor with a savannah view. That is weird he said it could have a standard view. I thought only the CL DVC units could have a standard view. I will be curious to see what others say. We stayed CL and it was fantastic and the sunrise safari was just amazing.

We actually feel the small extras are worth the extra $$. We enjoy having our breakfast being just a "stones throw" away. Also, snacks in early afternoon are always a welcome treat. And finally, evening appetizers plus cordials seem to work well for us. If we want last minute reservations...95% of the time Concierge staff comes thru.
We do spend a bit more time than most in our room. We have a son with autism and he needs a lot more "down time", so a room with a great view is important to us.
;)

I may call reservations a couple of times per month just to see if a "savannah view" room opens up. :thumbsup2

You are both correct! :thumbsup2 It is confusing!

AKL refers to rooms as "standard" because they sleep 4. "Deluxe" rooms sleep 5. For this resort, a "standard concierge room" simply means that your room will sleep 4. Before the constructions started, there were deluxe rooms on the 5th floor that slept 5 (daybed).

:wizard:

P.S. "I've" found, that when booking concierge rooms, most operaters don't really understand them or what they are all about. After you've booked, go ahead and email the IPO staff with any questions. They are truely the one's who know concierge!

I think you'll do better to just email IPO with any questions. Reservations folks vary greatly in their knowledge.
There's lots of info on the AKL thread about concierge. We're booked for 2008, and I was directly told our standard room will be savanna view.

Kimberle is correct. The AKL CL rooms are "standard" in size but not view - they sleep 4. They are all on the 4th floor (the lounge is on 6) and are savanna view. There are no deluxe rooms at AKL anymore due to DVC taking over the 5th and 6th floors. You can however get a bunk bed room if you want - just email the IPO. DVC CL rooms are on the 6th floor only and they either have a savanna view or a pool view. Due to the roof at AKL, the 6th floor room views are all fairly obstructed.

Did you book a standard club level room? If you did then the CM is confused. What is standard is the size of the room and not the view. The standard club level rooms are all loctaed on the 4th floor and have a view of the Arusha Savanna. If you booked a club room through the DVC then I believe your view is not garenteed.

Thanks for answering my quesstion. I was just curious. We have talked about booking conceirge but just never have at Disney. I guess as our kids are getting older we are not in the room as much and have instead gone to a 2 bedroom villa. The price is very similar but our room is so much bigger. We don't eat in, always out but like the space. Have a fun trip and enjoy your view.:flower3:

Do you guys think it's too early to Email IPO regarding bunkbeds....or should I wait 'til I receive my "official" Email from them and THEN request??? TKS!!

If so...how do I find the Email address for AKL IPO???

When we stayed concierge, we had a standard room only a few feet away from the lounge. It was savannah view also. Wonder if we just lucke out!:confused3

If you stayed in Nov of 06, based on your sig. you were in a "deluxe" size room on the 6th floor overlooking the Sunset Savanna. By any chance did you request a smoking room? Those rooms are being turned into DVC "villa's".
