I just remembered her latest one:
"Hopefully, it will rain today" is incorrect. It should be "I hope it will rain today." "Hopefully" is an adverb and cannot be used by itself. At least that's what she told me. I asked her if "Optimistically, I bought a lottery ticket." would work, and she said no.

These are some of the examples we are having issues with. Some sentences you can tell are wrong because they sound funny. Others not so much. We have been looking at the rules with adverbs etc. It's kind of sad because as we age, I think we get lazy with english. I think texting doesn't help either. Boy, I am learning so much. It is kinda fun to study with him!
