Help with a one day ticket

We are going to be in Orlando July 26-July31. I am thinking of taking my 11 yr old to MK for the day. We haven't bought tickets yet and I know I cant find discounted ones because its a one day ticket. When I was looking at the calendar for purchasing online, it makes me select a date. Im not exactly sure of the date we would go (also have to do a time share at our resort we are staying at and its not set/scheduled yet). If I buy a one day ticket can I change the date I use it at the Park by a day or two?
What are my chances for getting any FP for Mine Train once I do purchase tickets since it is so close? Are day of FP available for Mine Train?
Also wondering if they have after hours events going on at MK and if that would be a better option if so. Im getting ready to look that up to see if any are going on.

If you purchase your park ticket via your MDX account, you can Modify the date using your own account. You don’t have to ask for assistance.

Great! So I can purchase a day ticket, link it to our MDE and I can switch the date if needed? The prices are all the same for the few days we will be there. Thanks so much
