Hi everyone
I need some help with a project that my church is working on.
Instead of purchasing a pre-packaged Vacation Bible School program this year, we are putting together one of our own. The theme will coincide with what our local school district is doing as well as a K-12 program that was put together at the University of Delaware. The goal is to teach kids the importance of respect and good manners but ours will of course be from a biblical perspective.

So, our church wants us all to participate by taking a few minutes to jot down a few things. Specifically, what is your pet peeve? And what lack of manners annoy you? Is it a cahier talking on her cell phone instead of giving you her undivided attention? :scared: Is it people who chew gum in church? What lessons do we need to teach our children (and adults)?

Secondly, they want us to also tell them about a time we've been impressed by someone's good manners? :thumbsup2 What did we see or hear in the behavior of another that inspired, surprised, encouraged or challenged us? What good manners would we like to affirm?

So, I thought with as many people who are on the Dis, we'd be able to come up with some great ideas!!

I'll try and go first... but I don't know if it counts as a manners thing or if it's just plain annoying but my pet peeve is, it drives me crazy when I'm on a two lane highway and people will just cruise along in the passing lane. If you want to cruise along, i.e., you're not passing someone then please stay in the right lane. ~Keep right Pass left~

And good manners? Well, I still genuinely appreciate it when someone holds the door open for me.

Well, if you get the chance thanks for your help in this little project. :goodvibes

I think just general respect for other people is sadly lacking in society today. Some things that come to mind that I see from teens all the time is when they are crossing the street they walk as slow as possible while people are waiting for them (people in cars, they are stopping traffic). At a mall or in a store, teens are standing in a big group of people, blocking the aisle or walkway, not caring that they are being rude. In general just being aware of what is going on around you and realizing that the world does not revolve around you.

I have one that's church related for adults. I posted a thread about this last year and have seen it run rampant. I am trying to find a new church and have seen this problem in a BUNCH of churches.

I can understand why some parents refuse to put their kids in the nursery/children's church. Some parents just want their kids with them for service. I respect that. BUT....

When your child(ren) are running wild and disturbing others around them, it's time to do some moving. Either sit in the back row or think about putting your kids in nursery/children's church. When you child(ren) are making the service literally a living **** for the congregation, I beg you PLEASE, think of these other people.
