One easier way to understand banking, borrowing and point usages is to make yourself a chart for your particular use year.
Use years are NOT calendar years. Points for a vacation within any particular use year must be points assigned to that year and cover that year's timeframe.
Knowing this you can then use a given year's point allocation to use within that year, or bank points from a previous year into the desired year, or borrow points from a following year.
Your February use year chart would look like this. Then just look at your vacation dates, see what use year they're in, and bank, borrow, or not, any points you need into the use year of your vacation.
Year..... Use Year dates
2002 .... Feb 1, 2002 thru Jan 31, 2003
2003 .... Feb 1, 2003 thru Jan 31, 2004
2004 .... Feb 1, 2004 thru Jan 31, 2005
2005 .... Feb 1, 2005 thru Jan 31, 2006
and so on.
A trip in March of 2004 is in your 2004 use year timeframe.
You can use 2004 points, or bank 2003 points into 2004, or borrow 2005 points and put them into 2004.
For another example, we have a June use year so our chart would look like this:
Year..... Use Year dates
2002 .... Jun 1, 2002 thru May 31, 2003
2003 .... Jun 1, 2003 thru May 31, 2004
2004 .... Jun 1, 2004 thru May 31, 2005
2005 .... Jun 1, 2005 thru May 31, 2006
and so on.
So for ourselves, a March 2004 vacation would fall within our 2003 use year timeframe. For us then we could bank 2002 into 2003, borrow 2004 into 2003, or use regular 2003 points, for a March 2004 vacation.
Hope this helps
