Help with $9K Disney balance-how can I get the best return?

Sams Club now carries $500 Disney Gift cards, so I would think they might have $9000 worth on hand.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Sam's sells $500 cards online only (and $50 cards and $150 packs in-store and online).

Selection may vary from store to store though.

I think you're right...I forgot that it's only online.

the 2 Sams Club i frequent has a ton of Disney GCs. im not sure how many u can purchase though, im sure there is a limit.

sams club webby only allows me 1 $500 gc at a time. Subtotal (1 item) :$474.98. 5% off.
10% off if you have a freedom card.(up to $1500);

If it were me this is what I would do at the last minute: Buy $1500 worth at a warehouse club (Sam's) with my Freedom card and earn 5% cash back up to $75 per bonus category. Then I would go to my local grocery store and buy Disney Gift cards in increments of $500 (yes, my Giant Eagle sells $500 Disney cards) with my Southwest card. This way I would be earning fuel perks plus air miles. That would probably be the best I could do in a 2 week time span.

Can you only combine 5 cards on this site? https://www.disneygiftcard.com/Manage/Transfer
You can combine an unlimited number of cards, as long as the final balance is $1000 or less.

You don't have to "add" every gift card you're combining to the website - you can transfer the funds from them without adding them.

The only card that needs to be added is the card you're transferring funds to, and you can delete that from your card list once you're done transferring to it.

Got it. Thanks!

***If all you have/want is the disney visa, use that, buy the gc's at sams club discounted, and get the disney points plus the $25 per $500 off.... that = $450 right there. (then apply to gc.com,combine,and use to pay it)
***OR...... I like the above pp...use my freedom card(s) to purchase as many $500 gc at sams club.com as I could, and use those to pay off balance, with a 10% discount overall. Depends on if you have the freedom cc though.(use SWA cc for whatever's over the $1500 per freedom card limit)
***it is possible(if you have great credit, etc) that you could apply for and open a southwest personal and personal plus card on the same day- and then call and get the cards overnighted if possible(you'd likely have to pay a fee if this is doable) then pay off 3k on one card of your balance-and the rest on the 2nd card (using the 50k bonus offers on both cc's) that would put you in line for a companion pass, plus ALL those lovely points to use through the end of 2017.... to get a companion pass you need to accrue 110,000 rr points in ONE account in ONE calendar year.... so 50k+50k=100,000 points...spend 9k to pay off balance of Disney=109,000 points, add 1k regular daily spend, and you've got a CP+ points that will take you MANY places. The companion pass is the hands down the best deal in all of travel hacking.

As others said, you can use the Redcard at Target to save 5% on the Disney Giftcards. They have them in the $100 increments in the store. I don't think the question is whether your store has that many in stock but whether you will have any issues purchasing that many at once. I work for a target and while I don't do service desk /cashiering I do know there are limits on how many you can purchase and very large gift card purchases raise Major Red Flags. Typically because "most" people purchasing thousands of dollars worth at once are using stolen credit cards. Of course that's not the case with you but they will still question. Too bad you didn't start buying them much earlier. When I paid off my trip I was purchasing disney giftcards every other week.

I highly doubt it the store carries that much in Disney GC and who knows how long it will take to restock.

Actually you'd be surprised.... $9000 worth of giftcards in $100 increments is only 90 giftcards. It's entirely possible with the multiple locations of them throughout the store and the extras in the backroom that her store could have that many.
I wouldn't want to have 90 giftcards though so I'd probably find a place with the $500 ones. lol!!! Giant eagle would probably have them if she has one of those. Then think of all the free gas!!!

Our target doesn't carry many $100 GC they have a lot more of the $50. But I never seen so many stacks that would come close to 90. Sam's sells $500 packs so possibly they could have it.

Not only that but many stores have a limit on how many GC you can buy to prevent fraud.

You don't have to keep that many cards you can just combine them.

Call Chase and see if they'll give you a one time credit limit increase to pay for the vacation.

Just varies by store. My target has quite a few and if not there are plenty of other target stores close by. I could easily round up 90 cards (of course you can't buy them all at once). I also use the Disney Gift Card site to combine cards but 90 cards is still 90 card numbers that need entered . I'd rather key in much less I guess is what I was meaning. LOL.

Wow! Just did the math. With 159,000 SW points, if you can find a one way seat for 6625 (often do-able from Philly) you could buy 24 one way seats, 12 RT. Or a family of 4 could fly RT to FL 3 times. :cheer2:
Don't forget with 110K SWA points you qualify for the companion pass that would expire in 2017. So the companion flys free till Dec 31 2017 every time the rapid rewards member fly's. I have had companion pass status since Mar 2015 and we have taken 17 trips using the miles I earned what a huge savings. Nothing better than getting a BOGO on airfares
