Hi

Well it's time. We are finally ready to vacation outside of Disney!

I saw some info about Stone Mountain in GA and it looks like fun. We are going to go tubing!:cool1:

Ok so we are life-long Floridians and have never been out of the state during winter. We have jeans and I think I saw a sweatshirt somewhere in a drawer once. What do I need to outfit DD(6) and DH for tubing/playing in the fake snow?

I'm looking for cheap ideas too, since we most likely won't need this stuff again.

Thank you sooo much!

I'm Canadian, so we're kind of used to the winter.
My aunt and uncle are Floridians also, so we're used to their shock of being in the cold.
Definitely get snowpants/winter coats/hats/scarves and mits for everyone. I mean, I guess you could get away with splash pants over really warm sweatpants.
The best advice I'd have is to make sure everything is water proof. Fake snow isn't the same as real snow, but still ...
If you're worried about price, could you wait till you get closer to the resort and maybe hit a second hand store or something?

Also, coming from an area of snow and cold :) that is a great suggestion. There is nothing worse than being cold then getting wet and being popsicle cold. You have to quit when you get wet. Snow pants or weather proof running pants (with layers underneath of jeans, thermals or sweatpants), Jackets - water proof and warm with layers of shirts underneath. Mittens are warmer than gloves. A hat and scarf. Also, several changes of socks if your feet get wet! I would consider borrowing, Goodwill or Wal-mart as you get closer to the area you are going. Those places tend to have cheap stuff.

Have fun. We love Stone Mountain, GA. Never been in winter but have been several times in Spring and Fall and it is just beautiful! :)

I lived right over there for about 10 yrs. When are you going? You might be fine wit a sweat shirt ad a light jacket over it. I would layer so if it is warm you can just take off or add. This way you could use the stuff again.

Personally Stone Mountain is just ok. I think it is way over priced for what it is. I liked it much better when the county or the state was in charge of it. Now that it is privatized. ehh. I would do the Duck boat though my kids loved it. Also if they still do the lazar show against the face of the mountain that was cool.

HAve fun!

Thank you everyone! So they will sell waterproof stuff at Walmart? Walmarts here don't carry that stuff. We will be going in Feb...if that matters.

Georgia is not the great white north! I've lived in Michigan, Maryland, and now Florida.

If DD's got jeans, layer a pair of leggings under them. Two pairs of socks, some leather lace-up tennies (or rain boots). T-shirt, sweatshirt/hoodie, and a coat. (Depending on the tempature, you may need just a windbreaker or something heavier.) Mittens will be required! DD used to go sledding in Maryland in this type of outfit (but with a hat and a real winter coat). She was good for a couple hours.

Heed the advise about being wet!

Check the web too for shops ski shops near the resort. Some place rent the pants and jackets so that you don't have to buy them. Might save you some cash since you want be using them that often living in Florida. :)

This is what we did when we played in NY. But now that I have been in FL, just thinking about the snow, even fake, makes me want to run out and buy long underwear!
