HI Guys

I am a single mum to 3 beautiful princesses (11, 9 and 4) and returning to see Mickey in November 2012.

I have booked CBR with upgraded dining, but after much thorough research, I am not sure I've picked the right resort.

I am looking for the easiest resort (with theming) to avoid as much tantrums as I can with tired children on my own. We have been 2 twice so I am comfortable with my way around (not stayed onsite though).

I am interested in your opinions as I am already stressing myself out about choosing the right resort.

I am using my divorce settlement to finance the trip, so its a very special trip celebrating my 40th and therefore budget is not a problem :cool1:

The best option for you would be staying at one of the Magic Kingdom area resorts. Contemporary would be an easy option. You can walk or take the Monorail to the MK, or take the Monorail to Epcot. Wilderness Lodge is also a great option and that is just a boat ride away from Magic Kingdom.

I agree with the other poster. I have stayed at the CBR before I had children and the buses were a pain then. Staying at one of the Magic Kingdom resorts is your best bet....The Contemporary might be the best because you can walk or take the monorail.

I would consider a resort "hotel" as opposed to one that is laid out like the CBR with multiple "villages". It's always my preference with kids - I like that if someone is hungry we can walk down to grab a snack or drink and everything is all in one area. I don't like to have to take a bus or hike it to the main house for everything. The closer the better!

I also agree with PP that if you'll have a stroller for your 4yo, I would definitely recommend the Contemporary for the ease of the monorail. With bags, kids and a stroller to load on and off of a bus, you'll be exhausted before even getting to a park!! I know you were looking for a "themed" room, so with 3 girls, maybe a castle view would be enough to make it special? They could watch the fireworks every night while you relax in the room!

I'm a single mom who has taken 3 trips alone with my DD. I agree with the PP. If your budget allows, the MK area resorts would be better.

We stayed at the Poly last time and had very good experience with the transportation options. It is a short walk from the Poly to the TTC. You can take the monorail from there to Epcot, the express monorail to the MK, or the ferry boat to the MK. There is also the monorail stop at the Great Ceremonial House, and a boat launch to the MK.

I've also stayed at the WL and loved the boat to the MK.

The Contemporary is also a good choice because you can walk to the MK or access the monorail to Epcot with a transfer at the TTC.

Highly suggest staying at the Polynesian. Transportation to the 2 most popular parks is easy and hassle free. You can boat or monorail to MK and you can monorail to Epcot. The theming at Poly is fabulous.....like a tropical island vacation within a WDW vacation. Your children will love the pools and beach as well as the fun activities planned around the pool and at the GCH. You can watch the fireworks and the electric water parade from the Poly beach every night. The location on the monorail is also very convenient for dining at other resorts on the line. Poly is hands down my family's favorite

thanks everyone for your replies. You have confirmed what I had in the back of my mind all along! Poly was 1st on my list :)

Does anyone know if you get charged for changing resort? There is enough time before I go to change, but obviously don't want to lose my deposit or the free dining

If you plan to spend most of your time at MK then definitely a MK resort. WL offers bunk bed rooms and has a boat directly to MK. CR has a walking path straight there. GF and Poly are beautiful snd offer monorail along with small resort launches straight to the MK. Any of them would be good fits.

I would suggest the Epcot Area Resorts - BW, BC & YC (Swan & Dolphin too for less $ but no Disney theming inside)...you can walk or take a boat to 2 parks, Epcot and DHS.

If Epcot & MK will be your main parks, then a MK Area Resort, Poly, GF or CR so you can use the monorail.

You won't lose your deposit. Whether or not you can retain the free dining depends on if there is availability under that promo at the resort you wish to change to. Each resort has a limited number of rooms available under each promotion. The only way you will know for sure is to call and ask.

I agree with a MK resort. The monorail was a lifesaver for me when I was traveling with my two girls in a double stroller. Buses require a stroller to be folded, monorail doesn't. Poly is a short walk to the TTC also.

Well I've gone and done it!

Just come off the phone with Disney and changed to Poly - there was no fee for changing just obviously the higher price for deluxe hotel.

Thanks everyone for your advice, I feel much happier now and glad I've treated myself (and my kids) to a deluxe hotel and a brilliant birthday present.

Guess its just researching dining options and waiting to book ADR now, woppee!!!
