My son needs the nebulizer only when he catches a cold. I don't want to take my home one on our trip to DL. Someon suggested the Omron CompAir Elite Compressor Nebulizer (NE-C21V? Anyone have experiences with this system...or can someone recommend a lightweight nebulizer. This asthma thing is really new to me so any help is appreciated? Also, where's the best place to buy online? Any suggestions on how to get insurance to pay for it?

Have you called your insurance company? Mine payed for ours - but we a case manager and everything. One never knows till one asks!

My DS's Dr. tried calling. They said because they already paid for a regular nebulizer that they wouldn't pay for any other kind. I think it's worth the money to take a smaller one than to lug that big one around. I'm lucky that my DS only needs it if he gets sick. I think I'll just invest in one. I'm just trying to figure out if the one I'm thinking of buying is good. I'm new to all this Asthma stuff.

the omron is a very good neb if you get the battery pack, which most insurances wont pay for. it's nice and fast and fairly quite. it has a jet neb so it goes fast and has great smaller particales to breath in. also most insurance compaines consider it a regular neb and might pay for it. If you havn't had them pay for one within the last 3 years you might get them to pay for one but of course your mileage may vary.

Hi,

I have the Omron Comp Air Elite neb, it is a very portable unit. Get the battery pack and the car adapter, you will thank yourself. Another couple of things you may want to get are the tubing accessory and the mask (if your child uses a mask).

This nebulizer is a compressed air nebulizer, which works well with all neb meds. Jet nebulizers are not compatible with some neb meds, and although Omron's jet nebulizer is even smaller, it is not compatible with some meds, so for us, it is not an option.

Hope this helps.

Jen

We use a light, battery-powered neb by PARI. You might ask your pulmonologist about whether Albuterol and a puffer may not work, atleast until you may return to your room and your full-size nebulizer.
