I am having problems trying to decide with moderate is best. My 6 year old and I are going at the end of March and are set up at PC now, but I would like to swing a moderate stay. We have never gone moderate so I would like to move up from value, but not sure which one would be best for us. The CB seems way to big with a lot of walking to get to anything. Much of the information about PO say it is good for a romantic getaway (nice size but is it OK for kids?) POR also seems very large, but nice and Coronado is listed as a convention place. What to do, what to do?? I am coming to the experts.

POFQ will be open and it is perfect for kids. While there might be romantic things about it, overall the theming is great for kids. We went there with a 5 and 2 1/2 year old. They loved it. The pool area has a fantastic King Triton slide. Plus, there is a fun Mardi Gras theme and playful alligator statues. Everything is a short walk which is a plus. It is reopening following a renovation, so the rooms will be like new.

check out the pics for the pool area when you make your decision.

It all comes down to the theming. We have stayed at all of them. CBR is our favorite. The walk is not that long to the main pool and food court. Unless you stay in Trinidad South.

We have never had problems with the conventions at CSR.

You can't go wrong with any of them.

EASY...POFQ. You will love it! It is the smallest and coziest of the moderates. Your child will love the pool and slide. Just refurbished too. Call quick!

I can't say I have stayed at them all so I have nothing to compare it with, but we really enjoyed PO-Riverside (formerly Dixie Landings). We really enjoy the manor houses there. There is a great pool for kids there and for adults, the beauty of the mansions and grounds can't be beat. There are also quiet pools a real short walk from almost every room. The restaurants, main pool etc. are located in the center, which are a short walk from the rooms. We have eaten at CS and found it way to sprawling and EXTREMELY busy...the food court had a humungous line - not sure if it was extra busy due to a convention or what. Good luck with your choice!

PS - I thought PO-FQ was closed for renovations right now - not sure???

I've never stayed @ POFQ so I can't compare to it. But, I've stayed @ CBR three times and at CSR twice.

CSR:
I last stood @ CSR in August of 2003 and was really disappointed with the food court and bus service. The food court would close @ 10:00PM so we had to make sure nothing was needed before heading back to our room. The food court has this silly system, you have to wait to be seated and your server brings you your drinks, you have to get your card stamped based on what you choose and if you want say, pizza and someone in your party wants a burger, thats at a different counter so another line to make and card to be stamped. The bus service going to the parks was S L O W, we used our car rental because of this. We did enjoy the bikes, marina rentals, and pools. The quiet pools were the best. I will admit the grounds are beautiful and the layout is really nice. We enjoyed walking on the grounds in the evening, beautiful at night. I had requested the Casitas, but was placed in the Ranchos, which was close to the main pool but far from the food court. Again, my only complaints were the bus service and food court.

CBR:
This is my second favorite resort (Poly first). It is very family oriented, the food court has a large food selection and is right next to the main pool. Each section has it's own quiet pool, which are hardly ever crowded and it's own beach area. Bus service is G R E A T! Never had to wait long for a bus. The grounds are beautiful and although some areas are far from the main pool and food court, I enjoyed walking around the resort. During my first stay I was in Aruba, which was very far from the main pool and food court. But, it was always quiet and we always had the beach to ourselves and one or two people in the quiet pool. During my second and last stay we were in Martinque and loved it. It was a short walk to the main pool, marina and food court. Bike riding and marina rentals here were also lots of fun.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

I never stayed at PO, but I'd give a thumbs up to either CS or CB. Both were excellent!

My 3 1/2 yo and 15 month old loved POR. the pool gets two thumbs up for kids. My husband took the 3 yo on the water mice and they both had a blast. Both boys also loved the playground by the main pool.

I vote for CBR. I haven't stayed at CSR or POFQ but did stay at the Riverside in both the mansions and bayous.

Thanks everyone. I am taking the plunge and going for the CBR!! I have only been in value resorts so I am so excited about moving to a moderate. Can't wait!! Maybe going deluxe next time!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
