Okay..we are off to Disney next week:banana: and I would like some suggestions from all you Disers out there. We are a family of 5 . Myself, DH, DD16,DS14 AND DS11. I am looking for somwhere fun and good to eat that is not gonna put a BIG HOLE in my budget:confused3 This is not our first trip and probably won't be our last but I want some on hands opinions..I don't want anything character and we just want something fun. Thnaks to any advice:)

Well, you may have some trouble getting into a table service meal since it is so close to your trip. I know my family really enjoyed eating at the Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom. It doesn't particpate in the dining plan option. We are on the dining plan but always pay out of pocket to eat here because we don't have a Rainforest Cafe anywhere close to us.

There are several choices at Downtown Disney as well.

I would also reccomend trying the Sci Fi Dine In Theatre at Hollywood Studios. This would be a fun place for the family!!

I suggest calling the dining line to see what would be open for the days you are interested in! Good Luck!

I have to agree, it will be hard to get ADRs anywhere at this point. I would just call and see what they have available. Also, it might be easier to get a lunch reservation than a dinner reservation. Hope you are able to get something and have a great trip.

If you are wanting a table service restaurant call 1-407-WDW-DINE ASAP!!!! See if there are any ressies available. You may have to eat at off times but there is bound to be something.

Some table service places to ask about that offer "fun" non-character meals...

Sci-Fi Dine In (DHS)
50s Prime Time Cafe (DHS)
Whispering Canyon Cafe (Wilderness Lodge)
Dinner at O'hana (Polynesian)
Biergarten (Epcot)

Beaches & Cream is another you should try. It's like an old-fashioned soda shop, in the Beach Club resort. They don't take reservations...it's first come, first serve.

To give you a better idea of what each place offers, check out the menus at www.allears.net.

I absolutely love 50's Prime Time. The home cooked food is refreshing after numerous burgers and junk food. Trail's End Buffet is referred to frequently as the best deal on property, though I found the food mediocre (not to mention the ignorant hostess who refused to seat my handicapped grandmother at any of the empty tables closest to the buffet). As for CS, I am a fan of Cosmic Ray's (go at lunch when the third counter is open - yummy sandwiches), and Seasons in the Land is also nice.
