I finally received my member documents kit today to sign up for Disney Vacation Club! This is a bit overwhelming. The backpack is a nice touch but what the heck is in the fine print? Do you all read through every bit of this? Can you please tell me briefly what it says?

These are legal documents, so yes, you need to read it all. You will also understand better how everything works if you do. Be sure to sign EVERY where they ask you to!

I agree. Take your time and read through everything. Keep in mind that Disney tries to cover every possibility and protects themselves. Don't be put off by some of the scenarios. But read it....that way you'll be less likely to be taken by surprise by something in the future.

First you are right, it IS a big package!!! Secondly... Sign all the papers with the mickey ears & get them packaged to go... There really aren't all that many pages to sign, so just get that done....

Then you can curl up for the following week with some good, interesting reading... Basically DVC is covering every possible base, by making sure you understand that you are buying into the resort and that there are no guarantees about what benefits are available (or not) in relation to WDW.... If that makes sense...

FYI..my guide told me it was important that when you date your signatures, that the date on EVERY paper in the packet should be the same. That would be between the palm trees, as I recall.

As others have said, read the fine print. Because basically, if you don't see it there, DVD does not contractually owe it to you.

So you won't see anything about pool hopping, free valet parking, EE or many other DVC perks. In its purest form, you are buying accommodations for 41 more years.

We all hope and expect the perks will remain intact for the most part, but it is important to know what you are getting in to.

Good luck with the fine print!

Take the time to read the documents. If you don't understand something, ask here or ask DVC or ask a lawyer. There are lots of contingencies in the documents, but you should really understand what you are and are not buying. Good luck!
