Help! What do you usually do with your nice stroller at the airport? I am worried about checking mine in and it getting damaged. The last time ours was lost, but it was just a cheap umbrella one. This time I am taking our nice one and dont want it torn up.

You could buy a stroller bag for it to protect it from dings and scuffs but that won't necessarily prevent it from getting broken.

Gate check it so hopefully it will end up on top of all the luggage instead of under it.

I haven't bothered with a stroller bag for ours but I do take the canopy & any accessories I've added (since it's just a no frills lightweight stroller) off so at least that doesn't get torn up and cupholders, etc don't fall off and get lost.

We used a stroller bag in March with our brand new Mac. It did great on the ride there, although they did think it was golf clubs (?!) and we had to pick it up at Orlando with our luggage. I'll have to do something different with it next time.

HTH,

We gate checked our double stoller and they had ir set up and waiting for us when we exited the plane.

I just spent $159.00 for a new Maclaren stroller for our September trip and I am worried about this as well. Do you think a large, laminated sign that says: CAUTION:VERY EXPENSIVE!!! would work?? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I think gate checking is your best option, but if it's really important to not have it damaged, I would get a cheap one to take on your trip.

We packed a jogging stroller in a large duffel with pillows, etc. and that worked really well. My husband must have been a pack rat or something in another life because I swear he stays up nights thinking of how to pack for vacations............

We just got back from our first (very long) trip with baby. We took a total of 5 flights over a two week period, and gate checked our Peg Perego P3 each time. We had purchased a padded bag that we simply put the stroller into right before we boarded. The only thing special we did was to take off the snack tray and slip it into the padded bag along with the stroller.

We had no damage whatsoever this way. I think the $30 investment we made in the bag was a great one, since the stroller is a pretty expensive one. I don't think you can ever guarantee no damage, BUT - this way you are certainly minimizing the chances of a problem. :thumbsup2 We'll probably do the same on our upcoming trip to WDW this fall.
