My husband said we could go to DL for my 30th B-day:banana: . My B-day is 6/8 so We would be there from Mon 6/8-Sat. 6/12. I am worried about crowds during this time. Some have stated that they are manageable but I am worried I will go and it will be really crowed therefore not enjoyable. I will be traveling with ds5 and ds 2. Waiting in long lines would be terrible. So after all this ramble my question is should I risk it and go for my 30th or go another time?

Thanks!!!!!!:)

Well, on your birthday in 2009, you can get free entry into disneyland(or upgrade to a park hopper, or get a $69 gift card to be used on your birthday) so that's something to factor in. If you are worried about lines, you could invest $14.95 on Ridemax which is software that plans an itinerary for you so you are going on rides when they are at their slowest. If you are are really paranoid about crowds and really think they will hinder you having fun, then plan for another time.

I don't think it will be bad. I went end of June mid week and it was quite nice. It may be somewhat busy for grad nights but I don't think it will be that horrible. Fri/Sat evenings busy.

We went last year at the beginning of June, it wasn't that bad at all. I would go again that weekend/week. Have fun!!

I would go. I think that time is still ok. My sons get out of school on 6-11, and while I know not all public schools are the same, the are still kinda close. My DSS (lives in SoCal) gets out on 6/10 I think.

HTH!!

I went at the end of July this past summer and it wasn't bad. Mornings were very nice and it got more crowded in the afternoon. But it wasn't overwhelming crowds. Summer is pretty much the only time we can go, since our entire family either goes to school or works at a school. I think I would rather go during the summer than some of these crowded holiday times. :) I really don't think it is anything to worry about. Just be sure you get there when the gates open.

GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Don't let crowds get to you. You're not going there for one day therefore you shouldn't feel rushed!!! Take it easy and relax, see the shows, see things you never usually see cuz you r in a hurry. IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY!!!
Do a land or two a day. Stop to smell the flowers. It's one of my fave things to do there.

I think it's all in the mindset. Will it be crowded? Probably. Can you still enjoy it? Of course! Bring fun things to do with your kids while you wait in line. Plan ahead for parades and shows. Make reservtions that you normally would not. Most of all, KNOW that it will be crowded and just go in expecting that. If you are pleasantly surprised with light crowds, great! If not, you will already be ready for it and you won't stress about it.

It's all about expectations and being ready. It's your 30th and you will be at Disneyland with your family. Make it wonderful. :wizard:

This year the summer crowds seemed to be lower then usual, I'm guessing because of high gas prices and the such. Not sure how it will be next summer, or if we'll be able to compare it.

We usually go around that time of year in June. In the past years it hasn't been that bad. Usually quite enjoyable really. The first week of June this year seemed more crowded then usual, then I guess it dropped off for the rest of the summer! It is around the time a lot of schools are getting out, but I think it will still be better then October no matter what! LOL

Thank you everyone for the great advice and encouragement! So far I am leaning towards going. I would really like to spend my 30th in the DL!!!!!! I took my husband there 7 years ago when he turned 30 so I think this would be neat! I want to have my b-day dinner at Goofy's Kitchen. Some people may think that is weird but I'll will tell them it's for the kids ;)

I have been in early/mid june many many times and it was nice each time! Warm but not miserably hot yet, but warm enough that you dont freeze at night. The crowds aren't crazy busy and we had a great visit each time! :) And I dont think Goofy's kitchen is a bad choice...DH has never been and I want to take him when it's just the two of us in dec. Ahem...so he can say he has eaten there...not cause I wanna go :) lol

Whew, I'm not the only one with the excuses:rotfl2:

Since you have been many many times in June how are the lines?

Thanks!

I believe for your birthday you can either get in FREE, or you have the choice of getting a Gift Card worth the value of a one day park ticket, OR Fast Passes for you and the party you are travelling with (Up to 5 People)

It certainly isn't off time so there are lines but they were not terribly long. I would say around 20 mins for the bigger or slower loading attractions.
