I know I know I"m a girl I should know right... well I' confused. What is a pump, when I google it, it looks like a high heel shoe, but can it be a smaller chunky heel as well? I have a class tomorrow and I have to have pumps, I hope what I bought is a pump. It looks similar to the pumps I've seen pics of but has about a 2 inch chunky heel, not a platform shoe.

My understanding is:
not platform
no straps
closed heel & toe
heel 1 1/2 to 3 inches
Classic style
business women's dress shoe

Its a heel, but I don't know the specific shape. I didn't know heels were still referred to as pumps as there are so many styles now. Makes me think of those Easy Spirit basketball commercials from the 80's, the shoes depicted were about a 2 - 3 inch thin heel and between a pointy and rounded toe, closer to a pointy toe. No straps, but encompassed the whole foot, no open toes or strappy backs.

Hope I helped

I have always considered the ones with chunky heels to be pumps. That is what I wear to work. :confused3 But I don't profess to be a style expert, so I could be wrong.

Closed toe shoe, Rounded or square (or even with those god forsaken pointed toes that "what not to wear loves") with a 1-3" heel, of a good width. Appropriate for business.

Thanks, thanks, thanks! I was beginning to think I bought the wrong shoe...lol! You must my mind at ease.
