I am helping someone who works for me. She has custody of an 11 yr old boy ( who she said is a little slow) and gave me clothes sizes, but when asked about toys or wants she said anything! I only have had girls with no close boy relatives , so I have no idea what boys that age want! Help please!

Nerf, Legos, video games, Guiness Book of World Records Book or Ripleys Believe it Or Not books.

Legos, legos, legos. My son (who is also 11) really likes the Knex amusement park ride building sets too. He has a few roller coasters, a Ferris wheel and some other small ones

I have a 13 year old brother and a 12 year old nephew who have never liked legos at all. I would say that they don't have the patience to sit still and work on them, but that's not the reason because my brother would spend hours setting up train tracks and loved to collect Thomas trains.

On the other hand, my DS9 has started to really get into legos. He got a set for his birthday and is getting a couple of sets for Christmas. Since legos are so expensive, I would ask her about them in particular. (My mom hates legos and doesn't want them in her house. She also refuses to purchase them for my DS :confused3 )

My local Walmart only had the museum break in set discounted for their pre-BF sale. We think DS will really enjoy that one but I was hoping for more.

I also found a Coast Guard set in the discounted toy section a few weeks ago.

I always like to get bikes, balls, and nerf guns because they promote physical activity. If you can find something really cool on his reading level to help interest him in reading, I think books are great, too!

If you choose legos, be sure to pay attention to ages and scale back a bit if he is "slow". Hate that word, but it's important if he is developmentally behind. A set of the free style may be a good choice. Nerf Guns are great, but more fun if he has someone to play with. If he is a bit behind developmentally, he may enjoy some matchbox cars and maybe a set to go with them. DS8 still enjoys that. Art supplies are always good, and transformers are pretty big right now, but again, watch ages and scale back a bit. Maybe a few outdoor items according to the weather there; a sled or scooter or a football or even a playground ball. Does he have any game system? Most kids that age are very into a DS or a wii.

I agree. While my almost 9yr old girl has nothing but Legos on her birthday and Christmas lists, her twin brother does not have the patience for them. He did ask for some last year and then never did them. Of course his sister did, lol. Legos are crazy expensive, I'd ask to be sure first.

My boy and his cousins are into Avengers, any Super Heroes, Star Wars, Big Hero 6 etc. Anything themed around those he wants, video games, action figures etc.

Lots of good answers above!

My DS is 11 and he used to LOVE Legos (we have tons) but this is the first year he doesn't want ANY. I think he's just bored with them now and has moved on. My DS' favorite thing is Minecraft and I hope he'll be an engineer one day (but I digress) he has his own server he's built and he could be there hours. I'd say most of his classmates enjoy Minecraft in some version so it's a safe bet.

My DS also loves the Guiness Book of Records book that was mentioned as well and he loves reading books like, "I survived Hurricane Katrina". They have different versions of true life events.

Hmm...this year he asked for a Mac Mini for his birthday and a TV for the guest bedroom where he plays on the playstaion and WII sometimes. It's so true, as they get older they want more of the bigger, expensive electronics and I guess that makes shopping easier now as it's one and done :rotfl2: He loves comfy pjs as well so I try and throw in a few new pairs around Xmas time.

My son is 10 1/2 and doesn't want anything to do with legos. Nerf guns, anything remote control (his favorite is a helicopter), any sport balls, minecraft stuff, a scooter and helmet.

My 11 son wants anything sports related , tablet, laptop, and new cell phone for Christmas.

I thought might wait until birthday for cell phone.

I have two ds ages 11 & 8 and their all time favorite gifts are passes or certificates for a date with the gift giver!! They LOVE being able to explore and experience something fun and build memories. Anything is game: mini golf, ice skating, snow tubing, museum, zoo, boat tours, fishing, gun range, arcade, water park, anything you can think of would work!!! Sharing your time and affection is probably one of the greatest gifts you can give them. Another spin on it is to give passes the family can use to go out together instead. Our kids have so so much stuff and the times we enjoy together are the best .

If you are looking for something else or it is for a child you aren't particularly close to these are the things my 11 year old is really into: Minecraft, Legos, music (good headphones or iTunes gift card, or portable speaker), Under Armour brand clothing is also really popular here, a wrist watch, a hat or sweatshirt from his favorite sports team, video games, gift card for the book store. That is about all I have for now. I hope this helps! Good luck!
