HELP - What do I tell DH?

HEY SPLSHMNT - I just realized you are in my neighborhood-
My insurance may just be through your Agency!
LOL

I actaully started this post when I saw dimwitted enough to have lost 2 pieces within a week - now that I have found one I am much more comfortable telling him!
:)
So thanks for some good ideas!

Tell him you know what you want for Christmas, replicas of the missing jewelry. If he asks why, tell him they sorta disappeared.;)

I would just flat out tell him.
Don't be cutesy or anything- just be straight with him and tell him when he gets home.

As far as being concerned about him not buying any more jewelry for a while, I would leave it up to him. If I lost $1000 ring, my husband probably won't buy me another for a few years and I would agree that he shouldn't.

If you do find it, I would make sure it's sized properly and kept in a safe place when you aren't wearing it or doing any household work.

for that very reason. I would be so afraid of losing it. I've looked at nice jewelry when we went on our cruises, and have been tempted but knew I wouldn't really enjoy wearing it for fear of losing it.

I wanted "diamond earrings" for Christmas but told DH, nothing expensive as I don't want to worry about losing them!! I got small studs and they're just perfect. They're "real diamonds" but he didn't spend a fortune on them so I can enjoy wearing them and not worry much about losing them.

I will inherit a diamond ring eventually, though, from my Mom. It was my Grandma's and is something like 2-3 carats and definitely an antique as it belonged originally to my Grandma's aunt. Mom keeps it in their safe, which is where I will keep it eventually too. I would be too afraid of wearing it, and losing it!!!

The insurance agency employee brings up a good point. The limit on theft of jewerly on a normal policy is VERY small. (I think mine is $1,000 with a max of $200 on each piece). The diamond earrings my BF bought me this Xmas are over the total limit. I am having to have stuff appraised, but iit will also cover losing the jewerly when I travel etc so it is well worth it. My mother hides all her stuff in a safety depoist box, but I don't know what the point of having it is if you can't wear it.
