I am new to universal studios so I need some help. We are
adding on two days at US to our Disney world trip NYE week.

Two nights at Royal Pacific Hotel $239.00 per night
Total with 12% tax $535.36

Ticket mania, buy two get three days $96.00 adult $85.00 child
2 adults one child Total price $277.00

Total cost 2 nights at the hotel 3 days at the park $812.36
This would be for me to book it ourselves!

Our TA, that lots of people reccomend and that we are using for
our Disney land and Sea part of the trip, quoted us $945.00
for a package which is the same , 2 nights at the Royal Pacific.
Three days in the parks.

The only "extra" is a pass for wet&wild (which we have no use
for) or a lunch or dinner in the park. I asked about the difference
in price and he said "be sure your getting the same thing I am
offering you" What difference could there be???? We still get
to do that Expresssm ride don't we as long as we are staying
at a Universal hotel (Royal Pacific, the same one our TA was
getting us)?
We are traveling with another couple and she is
nervous about not going through a TA but even though I was not
able to find a discount on the hotel (if anyone knows of any for
NYE week please let me know) it still seems like we would do much better on our own. I can't believe a lunch or dinner at the
park would cost us over $100.00 for 2 adults and one child.

Please help me figure this out! If we are going to buy the tickets
from ticket mania, I should do so soon befor they pull that offer.

Thanks

If it costs less, then do it on your own. Does the "package" with the travel agent include transportation to the airport? If you get his package that includes the meal, you have to choose from just a couple restaurants. Go and eat where you want and book it yourself.

I've always been able to put together a package for my family much cheaper than TAs. I put together a Disneyland package one year through finding a getaway vacation from Southwest airlines and adding extras myself that was several hundred dollars cheaper than any of the TAs that I contacted could do.

Before we moved to FL and lived in TX, my WDW vacations were always cheaper with more extras by finding info on mousesavers. I got codes from her website and ticket discounts from her newsletter. I also saved by doing my own research for our Universal trips. Trust your own research.

I would probably go with a TA if I were travelling overseas as I know nothing about travel to foreign countries but I know how to put together a Disney or Universal vacation.

So getting a "package" doesn't get me something I would be
missing by booking on my own right?

Do I still get to use the "special line" perk as long as I stay in a
Universal Hotel?

I know I would be saving some on the tickets through ticket
mania, I love mousesavers too and feel comfortable with Disney
World vacations but US is new to me.

Thanks again
