Help, what am I doing wrong?

My suggestions (for what it's worth) is to pick a certain diet and stick with it. I just don't see how combinations Atkins/WW or Slim Fast/WW diets can work since they are designed to be followed independently. Each diet is so different.

I agree that right now, you need a boost and I would recommend Atkins however, there is just not a lot of modifying that can be done and still achieve the great results.

I agree with Kelsie...if you need that boost...Atkins induction with zero carbs seems to be the way to go!!

One small correction - (sorry Luvinit, I don't mean to contradict you :) ) During Atkins Induction, you need to have 20 carbs per day, preferably in the form of veggies - a salad would be great! Stay away from the carrots and corn, but most green vegetables are ok (beans, snap peas, broccoli, lettuce, cucumbers, celery, etc.) You can also split up the veggies and have some raw, like a salad, and some cooked with dinner! :-)

And, like others have said - drink LOTS of water!

I know you are right Rhonda...I was refering to Atkins Induction with the zero carbs though...for one week. It has seemed to really BOOST alot of us in here..and I thought it might give her the boost she needed!! This is what the whole Alex Challenge thing was about last week...and it seem to be very successful and easy...staying under 20 carbs.

You actually do NOT have to have 20g of carbs during induction. The Atkins rules of induction states to have NO MORE than 20g -- but it does not list a minimum. So I would go with whatever amount your body feels best on.

From atkinscenter.com rules of induction -
Memorize the following rules as though your life depends upon it. In fact, it does.

Eat either three regular-size meals a day or four or five smaller meals. Do not skip meals or go more than six waking hours without eating.
Eat liberally of combinations of fat and protein in the form of poultry, fish, shellfish, eggs and red meat, as well as pure, natural fat in the form of butter, mayonnaise, olive oil, safflower, sunflower and other vegetable oils (preferably expeller-pressed or cold-pressed).
Eat no more than 20 grams a day of carbohydrate, most of which must come in the form of salad greens and other vegetables. You can eat approximately three loosely packed cups of salad, or two cups of salad plus one cup of other vegetables (see Acceptable Foods).

Rules of Induction can be found here.

I'm sorry - I didn't mean to say it that way - that you NEED 20 carbs. The book says NO MORE than 20 carbs - but he does stress having some vegetables, so you will have some carbs - but don't go over 20.

(I always seem to say things the wrong way!)LOL

Thanks for correcting me!

Rhonda

If you decide to keep with Atkins- blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and blackberries are the preferred fruits once you finish your two-week induction.

One thing I've found and read somewhere but it does help is to not eat fruit at the same time as your meal- if you save it for a mid morning, mid afternoon snack this helps your blood sugar and keeping the sugar in fruits separate from your carbs/proteins is an advantage somehow-

Anyone remember where this was reported? But I do keep to that and eat 1/2 an apple or 5 strawberries as my mid snacks- also pistachios (8-10 of them) make a great snack too! It takes time to crack those little suckers so you feel like you're eating more- I LOVE cashews- but unfortunately they come pre-shelled and I can fit about 20 in my hand! :)

Rhonda -- you are always so helpful and inspirational. I just didn't want anyone to be going crazy trying to get in that magic number of 20 carbs. I was actually one of those people that thought I had to do that. ! I really feel much better when I have my veggie thru the week. But sometimes I don't have any for a day or two and I do fine. I know I still get some hidden carbs in the other foods that I have. Thank goodness for Multi Vitamins!:D
