We currently have reservations at Ohana for our upcoming trip but the more i think about it the more i would like to swtich and get Mama Melrose Fantasmic Package.. Has anyone tried this? is it worth it.. and do you really wait in line for less time then without it? and since our trip is in 12 days.. will i even be able to get a reservation? How about walking up the day we are there and trying our luck?? i have been calling but everythings booked!!

We had friends that went last week without getting the package and she said she waited, however she said it was worth the wait and she only waited 45min which I think they say you wait with the package too. I am actually canceling my package reservation and just going to see Fantasmic without the vip seating., I would love to hear if people think I am crazy for doing this.

If you're going there over 4th of July weekend (which I think is what your ticker says), then yes, I think you're crazy. Going the first week of May versus over 4th of July are *very* different things.

I would consider you EXTREMELY lucky if you were able to grab a FDP at this point. These are going like crazy now.

I am going to try for Mama Melrose, but if I don't get it, then I am going to try for lunch or dinner somewhere else and plan to wait it out with everyone else :thumbsup2

I doubt you will even get the dining pkg. There is still waiting involved with the pkg but more like 45 mins wait VS the approx 2 hr wait without it.

We have done it both ways. The FDP and then without. We did it without the first week of June, and we did just fine. Truthfully, we liked being able to eat at the time we wanted and not worry about eating at a time according to the FDP. We had great seats, and didn't have to wait long either. I would not worry about getting the package, eat when you want and get to the park. You will be just fine.

4th of July week is one of the busiest weeks of the year at WDW -- there is probably no way you will get Fantasmic dinner package, or any other popular restaurant booking at this point. As for whether or not you need the dining package -- you might want to read some of the other threads that have posted lately...getting in with just a 45 minute wait was EXTREMELY LUCKY...and will only happen during the absolute slowest time of the year. Most people are reporting showing up 2 hours or more before show time to get a seat -- standing room only at 45 minutes. Even for the dinner package they're now telling people to show up 1 hours before show time. Many shows are closed due to capacity as much as 30 minutes before show time. You can search and find many threads about people's experiences with trying to get in to Fantasmic this year...the only people reporting "easy" are those who are going during very light crowds. Many people have been taken completely by surprise because they are going off stale advice regarding how it used to be easy to walk up 30-45 minutes before the show and get seats...except for rare exceptions, it's just not happening like that anymore.

Try this thread from earlier today:

You apparently have not been there since they cut back on the number of shows. Your advice above worked fine when they were showing Fantasmic 6-7 nights a week. Now that they have cut down to 2 or 3 nights a week, totally different situation.
