HELP!! Wanted to add a day

We just decided to add a day to our vacation. We wanted a room at the Contemporary for April 5 and they are sold out. My question is should we stay somewhere else and try to check in early at the Contemporary or do they ever have last minute availability? We are driving from NJ and taking 2 days. Any suggestions for a nice hotel not in Disney? I am just afraid my kids will be disappointed that we are in Disney only to not be at the Contemporary yet. PLEASE HELP!!!

I would advise calling and seeing what else is available. You also might keep checking for CR, someone might cancel. When you call just ask for the one date. Even If you have to make two seperate resv. to get the extra nt.

Persistance and numerous calling is the key.
