Hello Ladies---I have 2 old American Girl dolls that I'd like to sell on Ebay but have no clue what I have or how to price them and I know that posters here will have the right info!

These dolls belonged to my DSIL and were given to us for our DDs but they thankfully never got into them so they've been sitting in the basement for quite a few years now.

First up is the dolls. Both of them have Pleasant Company stamped on the back of their necks.

Any info you can give will be most appreciated!

This is a white fur beret with matching muff and a red velvet hat with tassles on the back.

This is white stocking new in the package with a sticker holding it closed that says "Made in Spain for Pleasant Company"---Felicitys garters new in package--and Samanthas gold brooch new in package it says it was made in Taiwan for the Pleasant Company coyrighted 1986

This is a doll for the doll, a pink velvet clasp purse, red beads new in package, Samanthas Indianhead penny, and a Felicity bit copyrighted 1991. There's also a hair clip but I don't know if it's AE or not.

This is 3 bonnets. One is all lace. The other two are the same with a red ribbon. There are two matching purses. One has a handkerchief in it as well as what looks like a garter and a letter to Mrs. Merriman. The second is empty but I found what looks like the same handkerchief so I put it with it.

This looks like an old time nightgown(date on it is 1993) and a red/pink robe with black piping. Unfortunately I only found one matching slipper to the robe.

This looks like a petticoat. The garter holders are still wrapped in the original plastic. The second has a little booklet and it is Samanthas Xmas Story dress with the hair ribbon which is still new in the package

This is the last picture. It is of a green and blue plaid cape with matching boot covers and a gray jumper.

I also have a Felicity book set. It is from 1991 and says it's a first edition.

Both of the dolls are retired, and from looking at ebay's finished listings, they seem to sell in the $70-$100 range.

Have you tried to get whatever is on Felicity's face off? If it won't come off, I would think that would decrease the value a little bit.

As for the clothes, I would look at finished listings- Samantha's Christmas dress, for example, seems to range from $16 to $60.

The white fur hat and muff go with the plaid cape- they're part of Samantha's winter outfit. It looks like that outfit is selling in the $20-$25 range.

Samantha's Accessory set (the red hat, the brooch, the pink purse, and the penny) looks like it's selling for around $20 out of the box.

The gray jumper is Samantha's school dress, and looks like it sells anywhere from $12-$20.

Felicity's accessories (mob cap, floral purse, coin and handkerchief) looks like it's selling for $12-$20.

Felicity's doll and the letter to Mrs. Merriman seems to sell for around $20.

Samantha's Petticoat and garters sold for around $13.

The white shift is Felicity's and it looks like similiar listings sold for $10.

I don't know anything about the robe, though.

Good luck selling! :goodvibes

If they are in fact Pleasant Company items, before Mattel (1998) bought them out they may be worth more. That's about all the help I can be. I'm keeping all of my girls dolls. Perhaps they will have daughters, that will play with them.

I think you might have good luck just running a regular old Ebay auction rather than setting a price with those items. It's been a long time since I've sold anything on ebay, but can you still run a regular auction, but set a reserve?

Thank you for all your help!

Do you think it would be better to just put the dolls with their accessories and sell it that way? Or would they sell better as single items?

Like I said my DD's never got into the dolls so I'm clueless when it comes to them!

Seeing your pictures made me smile. Molly was a big part of our lives for many years, along with all the extras (including the giant horse!). Maybe I'll get it all out and find a place to display it and secretly play with it too.....

I never knew there was a collector value to the older Pleasant Company doll. Ours was purchased in the mid 90's, so I guess it qualifies. :)

You might try the American Girl Playthings board at http://agplaythings.proboards.com/. The folks over there will know what they're worth. I got into refurbishing old dolls a few years ago for the 12 minutes my DD was into them and they're very helpful.

My mom saved mine and I can't wait until my DD is old enough for them! :)

I don't mean to hijack, but everyone here seems to know a lot about AG dolls. Would anyone know how much a replacement head is for the AG dolls that look like the owners? I think they're called Just Like You Dolls.

I think they're about $40. You'll have to send the doll in to the hospital. AMERICAN GIRL DOLL HOSPITAL

A simple quick search on closed/finished Ebay auctions will tell you what people have gotten...FYI .closer to holiday....MORE money ;)

irishbosoxfan If you'd like to PM I can help you a little more but the others have given you a lot of great info. The robe is not one of the "historical" outfits but one of the original Girl of Today outfits. I can give you a little more information about that when I'm not about to go to bed. I would recommend you sell each piece separately unless you have the whole set. i.e. all the holiday stuff. all the school stuff.

Also once you settle on price let me know. I have a daughter named samantha I would like to start collecting stuff for.

I sell a lot of american girl items on ebay. I have found it is best to sell items individually. I usually make more by researching the item on ebay and looking at sold items in the past. I do not do my american girl as auctions, but always buy it now with a reasonable but higher than auction prices. American girl prices can fluctuate a lot with auctions. I may have to wait a little longer to sell it with the buy it now, but they items have always sold. Right now is a very good time to sell your items this is prime toy selling time on ebay.

Interesting thread. When I was about the age for these dolls they had just come out. Kirstin, Samantha, and Molly only.

We have the entire original sets, including beds, trunks, and party tables sitting in my mom's house. They're pretty much in mint condition since my mom wouldn't let us undo their hair lol.

I wonder what they would go for.

I'm not sure about Molly but if you have original white body Kirsten and Samantha in pristine condition, original hairstyle, undamaged eyes and nice face coloring and packaging you are easily talking $300+ each.
