We've never been to one of the concerts scheduled during the Mardi Gras days @ US and just saw that Gavin Degraw will be performing on the Saturday we will be visiting. Where are the concerts held, how early do you need to get to the viewing area, and are there seats or does everyone stand? Any info. or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Held inside the the Studios park, across the street from Shrek. I don't recall ever seeing seats, you just kind of stand around in front of the stage. The earlier you get there, the closer you can get, but since most people watch the parade, if you get there even right before closing time, you should be fine.

I wouldn't worry about being right near the front or getting there early.
A few years ago, the wife and I went to see the concert. It was Brian McKnight. So we stand around waiting for half an hour, he comes out 15 minutes late, the sound system was cranked way too loud, sounded terrible, and we left. You'll hear the sound no matter where you are standing. So it's better if you continue going on the rides until they shut down. Then take your time, walk over, and you'll find a spot to stand.

it's in the old boneyard are right next to twister. you'll be able to see and hear everything, but the areas close to the stage do seem to attract people early.

Rides shut down as soon as the parade starts, mostly. After the parade is when the concerts start. Last year Hootie and the blowfish were good, though he didnt play the Burger King Bacon Cheddar Ranch song, and they only played 20 mins. I've heard most of the concerts are about an hour or so.
