Be VERY careful if you do DTD Check in and use Virgin Transfers!!
We did this on our trip. The pick-up from MCO to our hotel (on I-Drive) was straight forward enough, we were last to be dropped off but didnt mind as we were too busy looking out of the windows enjoying the sights!!
So, the day before departure we phoned the Virgin Rep to ask that we get picked up from DTD and not our hotel, which they said was fine. They gave me a new pick up time (which was an hour later than the one they had originally given) and we were pleased as we had an extra hour in the parks on our last day.
So on the morning of departure we got a cab to drop us at DTD with our luggage and joined the check-in queue (there were about 4 families in front of us) and we were checked in by about 8:30am.
But then the problems started, as we couldnt get to a park as there were no taxis and no direct Disney buses. So we had to wait to catch a resort bus, and they didnt start running until about an hour later! The shops at DTD werent open until 9, so we just sat on a bench!
We eventually got to MK and spent our last day there. We walked to the Contemporary to catch a direct resort bus back to DTD.
We were half an hour earlier than our pick up time, but this gave us a chance to get changed for the flight home.
We started to get concerned when no-one else came to queue for the Virgin Transfer bus.
The bus did not show. We called the number and they said it was on its way. Half hour passed and the bus still did not show. We called again, and they said "yep, stay there, its on its way". But it still did not show.
I was in floods of tears, thinking we were going to miss the flight.
After waiting an hour after our pick up time we only had about 35 mins to catch the flight before the gate shut. We called again. They sent a taxi, who sped to the airport but did say that it didnt look hopeful we would make the flight.
Thankfully we did, but it was REALLY stressful.
So if you are taking the transfers, I'd advise against DTD check-in.
