We're hoping to be at VB at the same time this July. I still need to make our 7 month ressie for the 14-15 at VB. Afterwards, we'll be going to VWL for the rest of the week. It will also be our first DVC vacation. We also have a DD who is 10 yrs old. I'll also be interested inany responses you get. Maybe we'll see you there!

I've wayched your post hoping someone with greater knowledge would reply, they haven;t so I will give it a shot.

We stayed at VB last June and are returning for 2 weeks in August in 2002. We loved it!! I would highly recommend a 1 bedroom on the 2nd or 3rd floor. We had a second floor unit this past summer and had a partial ocean view, it was enough to make us happy! We also rented an umbrella and chairs on the beach our first day, we decided to rent them for the whole week . This was great, we didn't have to get down to the beach early to make sure some were available. We pre-paid for the week and every morning we got up when we wanted to and Tom had our umbrella , chairs, and towels all laid out for us, umbrella #7. By noon the week we were there all had been taken.

Try Sonya's at the resort it was nice, however we were dissappointed in Shutters.

Definitely go down to the lobby on the mornings they are having the drawing for the turtle walk. We were drawn the first morning. That night a small group with an accompanying park ranger watched a loggerhead sea turtle lay eggs and return tot he sea. My kids who are 9 and 11 were in heaven. We spent a week at Universal at the HRH, a week At Disney at the BWV and week at VB last summer and the turtle was the highlight of our trip!!!!

My boys participated in several activities at the resort. Thus allowing some mom dad alone time. The boys would go do their crafts and we would lay by the pool 20 ft away in peace for 45 minutes.

We truly enjoyed our stay at VB, it will probably become annual thing for our group.

WL at Christmas is the best, we are going the 14-20 of 2002. I'm not quite sure what you would like to know specifically about it.

SKORPIE,
HOPE WE WILL SEE YOU THERE AT VERO BEACH WE WILL BE THERE 7/14 - 7/19 2002.

ALSO THANKS SNOWWITCH FOR THE VB INFO. I WAS CONCERNED THAT OUR DD WOULD BE BORED - BUT IT SOUNDS WONDERFUL - WDW IS SUCH AN ACTIVE FAST PACED VACA THAT A WEEEK AT THE
BEACH SOUNDS WONDERFUL. AS TO INFO ON VWL - IT WILL BE OUR 1ST TIME STAYING AT THIS RESORT - PRIOR THREE TRIPS WE STAYED AT ASM - AND WE JOINED DVC ON OUR LAST TRIP THIS PAST
FALL. MANY POSTS ABOUT THE LONG WALK TO LAUNCH FOR BOAT TO MK AND ELEVATORS NOT IN THE BEST SPOTS ETC ANY LITTLE CLUES TO THE FLOW OF THINGS - BUSY TIMES FOR BOAT TO MK - RESORT RESTRAUNTS - THINGS YOU WOULD NOT GO TO VWL WITHOUT - ANYTHING AT ALL WOULD BE APPRECIATED

The villas are a short walk to the launch but to cut down on walking I would request a room near the pool. If you are at the end of the villas, farthest from the pool, that would be a significant walk to the boat launch. So request a villa overlooking the pool or close to the pool. Dining at WL can be an adventure, if your crowd if lively and doesn't mind being made fun of I highly recommen dining at the Whispering Canyons Cafe at the WL. We always make a PS and when checking in we inquire at the restr. when Jeffro-Bodean will be working . If we have a PS for a night he is off we re-schedule our PS. He is HILARIOUS!!!!! The food is good but not great however we go for the fun not the food. Many rave about Artist Point but the menu doesn't click with me so we've never tried it. Roaring Forks, the fast food place, is actually decent for a quick bite.

We own at the BWV but love WL during the holidays!!!! We have spent the last 2 dec trips at the bwv but this year we are hoping for the WLV if not I have my BWV ressies to fall back on. Tips as far as what we bring, we always bring more washing detergent. They only supply a little box, so I pack those tide cubes, they aren't nearly as messy as liquid or powders. We tend not to cook alot at all, we bring breakfast items and sandwich stuff and generally only have 1 snake a day at the parks and one nice dinner.

Try signing up for flag family when you check in!!! We always take a no park day and rent water mice, surrey bike, we bury the kids in the sand down on the beach while we wait for the electric water parade, there are alot of hidden Mickeys at the Lodge, ...........I could go on and on.

We will just miss you at VB. We will be there July 7th -12th in a 2BR. This will be our first "official" DVC vacation. We bought at Hilton Head after we were there with my DS who is a member. All of this info is great on VB since we haven't been there! Hope you have a great time, we can't wait to go "home."
