We will be heading back to the mouse in 2014 - either January or may - taking our daughter out of school for a week - GASP - :) Our last trip we stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter - it was nice - quiet and we loved the boat ride from the resort to Downtown Disney area. We are a family of three - daughter is 9... We are not big pool people and we are relaxed when we vacation - just enjoy every moment - we do like the parks - Epcot and Magic Kingdom our faves.... Budget is pretty OPEN - but I dont want to take a 10,000$ vacation either... :confused3 Hubby said he doesnt want to stay at POFQ again - but he liked it... We want a bit of a change... This will be our 2nd Disnye adventure. Any advice on which resoirt to pick????? HELP????

I like water.
So I enjoy lake view rooms at BWI, YC, Contemporary, WL, and Poly. GF and BC are nice too, just didn't enjoy them quite as much. Actually, one of my worst stays yet was at BC. But I digress.

I also like the transportation convenience with these - especially with the Epcot ones. Having the monorail at the MK ones is nice too.

The pool at YC/BC is a big draw, but if y'all aren't pool people then maybe it doesn't count as much.

One of my personal all-time favorites is the WL - I just find the decor/theming to be so peaceful there.

And all of these are very close to either MK or Epcot - the two parks we visit most - so less transportation and time spent being transported, in general, when we stay close by.

Try the contemporary. the location is the best of all. very large rooms. and don't be afraid to stay in the garden wing.

I love animal kingdom lodge great resort it's a deluxe resort but one of the best priced deluxe resorts not much more than a moderate resort. Great pool outstanding restaurants and watching the animals are great. Sitting in the lobby is wonderful relaxing sitting around the fire pit just chilling. It a quiet resort and a little further away from the parks so much to see and do.

Love the Epcot resorts, great atmosphere, lots of dining choices and walking to Epcot is great!

Our favorite resort is the Fort Wilderness Cabins. It just feels like its own little mini-vacation - quite removed from the parks and still close. Lots of activities to enjoy there as well.

Thanks everyone! I was looking at Wilderness today! :) there is a boat to Magic Kingdom right???? We kinda live in the wilderness and hubby things its too much like home but I think it might be a good choice for us !

I will look into Animal Kingdom as well - thats one I havent looked into much

I thought Contempary would be fun - but I dont know if I want to pay the price

libinatorsmom, go ahead and spend the money at The Contemporary, if it's the most appealing to you. I've regretted a few things in my life, and but not what I've spent on nice accommodations. :) We stayed at the Beach Club Resort last year, loved it ... cost a lot, but worth every penny! Going back next weekend ... YAY! :cool1:

We love POR but that will be similar to what you saw at FQ. We are trying AKL for the first time this September and are very excited! We only did the standard view and found it's not that much more than the price of a moderate. We feel we will be so happy to just stay at the lodge we won't mind not having a savannah view room. I do agree with some of the other posters though, the Contemporary is nice and being on the monorail is amazing! We like to splurge a little on our accommodations and then cut corners in other places if need be. We stayed at AOA earlier this year in the Lion King Suites. It was pretty cool. The Cars Suites area is amazingly themed! Good luck deciding. ;)

I also love the Epcot Resorts bc I love Epcot. I have stayed at the Caribbean before and was not impressed. I have also stayed at the Swan and Dolphin and I was not impressed with them, either, for some reason they seemed "dingy" to me. Disney seems to keep their resorts much "fresher" and cleaner.

Our top 3 resorts are 1: POLY 2: POLY 3: POLY ok, seriously our top 3 are 1:POLY 2:WL 3:BC. Meanwhile our 3 least favorites are, 1:any AllStar 2:CSR 3:AKL. Just our opinion, YMMV.

If you don't want to break the bank, I would try Wilderness Lodge (boat to MK, awesome!) or maybe one of the Epcot resorts (Beach/Yacht Clubs or Boardwalk). There are usually pretty good discounts out for those resorts that make them a bit more affordable, too. Have fun choosing!! :)

I've never been to Disney World. (been to disneyland when i was younger)
So i'm just going off what i've researched so far. My boyfriend and I will probably end up staying at the Art of Animation resort in January. It's on the cheaper side. I'm super excited about it. The rooms are all themed as Little Mermaid, Lion King, Cars, and Finding Nemo. The outside decor is all themed as well, seems like a really fun place if you're into Disney and have kids.

I would LOVE to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. African animals are my favorite. It's too pricey for us though :\ maybe next time and i'll make sure we save up lots of money;)

Both of the Port Orleans resorts we're considerations for us as well, they look beautiful!
