This June we'll be taking our first summertime trip to WDW, and while I'm looking forward to the magic, I am not looking forward to the heat! I'm planning to purchase handheld misting fans for each of us. Do you have any recommendations on fans that have worked well for you? Amazon has extremely mixed reviews on just about every fan I've looked at.

We arent fans of the fans, but I know some folks love them.
We do love Frogg Toggs Cooling Pads though! Lifesavers! You wet them and sort of put them around your neck like a scarf and down your shirt a bit and ahhh! We buy this one..

You can cut them in half down the middle diagonally and make two out of one. Then just keep wetting it throughout the day.

ArwenMarie, we're thinking about the Frogg Toggs, too! Can't hurt to have multiple weapons in your aresenal! :lmao:

Robndani, thanks for the O2 Cool review. Those were at the top of my list until I read some of the Amazon reviews...although those reviews are notoriously unreliable!

Another Frogg Togg fan. They are great. Also recommend:

- Travelon three speed folding fan. You can get this on Amazon. This fan really works. It is a little noisy though on the highest setting. If you want it can be worn around your neck. This does not have a mister function.

- The best spray bottle fan I have used are the ones that DW sells in the parks. I like that you can fit small ice cubes in through the back. The water is so much more refreshing ice cold.

- If you are carrying a back pack and there are separate compartments, freeze a few bottles of water and Place them in the compartment that touches your back. I found this tip on the DIS previously and used it in Aug at DW, when the temps were high 90's, and it really helped. As an added benefit after a few hours, I had some really cold water to drink.

- My favorite tip is to bring a glad bag with me in the park. When at a QS, I get ice and fill the bag. I then place it on my neck and that cools me better than anything. When the ice begins to melt, I just empty the water and save the bag to use again.

I will also be there this June trying to keep cool. :cold: Have a great trip!

Not a fan, but a great mister: Misty Mate Personal Mister, 2.5 oz size.

No batteries, nothing to break. They're the size of an electric toothbrush and take up no room.

I've replaced our old ones, and gotten some for my inlaws who will be joining us in July/August.

You can get them at amazon for about $10 if you shop around a bit. They're a total trip saver for summertime.

I pack a whole bunch of the 02 cool misting fans from walmart. they are very small with a water and battery compartment. They are WONDERFUL. Also--see my thread on Handy Coolers. They were a lifesaver on our August trip and will be again this year! It's a little swamp cooler-handheld! Like a little air conditioner. My 110lb daughter(dripping wet)cannot stand the heat and these were a lifesaver.

While the ones sold at WDW are expensive, they last for years! Dh and I bought 2 on our first trip in 2002 and they are still working as well as they did the first time we used them. That $20 investment has lasted 12 years so far. We bring them back every year and use them at cookouts over the summer and the kids play with them all summer long.

Used and loved the Frogg Toggs. We bought the O2 and didn't like them. We ended up buying the ones in the park and bringing the other ones home. It was like 110 with the heat index in June when we went last year and we liked the park ones because they were bigger and we didn't have to fill them as often. It is brutal how hot it is! Using both the towels and fans was very helpful.

When you use them be aware of where the spray is going. Quite often, I've been hit with someone else's spray without them realizing it.

I never heard of these!

How heavy are these?

We bought the Disney one and it is fantastic. I already have it out for when we go in a few months. My kids didn't even mind carrying it. It was a huge lifesaver.

The humidity in Florida can be unbearable, we do not add more liquid to the equation, we use handheld fans, no mister

We love our Misty Mate. It's not a fan, but am very fine mist. They come in several different sizes. Just turn the knob and a nice, fine and cooling mist cools you right off.

We picked up 4 of these at target before our trip end of May/beginning of June trip:

I think they are like $10 or less at target. Everyone had their own colors.
No batteries, which was nice. You simply fill them with cold water, and pump the bottom a few times until the pressure is built up. Then when you press the button you get a nice cold mist. They are a lifesaver and we will be bringing them with us next time too.
