Help us find Epcot's hidden gems...

Thank you all for your responses. As for Mission Space now that they have a tame version I think we all may enjoy it (maybe not my DS2 if there is a height requirement for the new version). My DD5 is a certified space nut right now she is very into the planets and all that is outer space at the moment. As for Soarin that is a must do for me since it was my DF's favorite ride. It's all these little extras that I'm jotting down that I think will make it so much more fun for us all. Thanks again, keep em coming!

I wanted to mention in case you didn't know this, the gift shop on the way out of M:S has some neat little astronut stuff for sale. It is not made by Disney or marked WDW in any way so it is really inexpensive. I remember seeing sets with the astronauts and space vehicles from $3-8. Thought you'd be interested in a nice cheap souvie for your little one!

Thanks! I will have to look for them both of mine will probably find something they will like. My DB who is 9 will probably like them too, he's really into Star Wars at the moment he may be able to find some things to help him in making his action scenes.



I have to admit I was a little blah on the Epcot day we had planned. Not because I didn't want to go but because I was already hearing the "Mommy can we go see Mickey or Mommy this is boring". I am really looking forward to our day in Epcot now even more than before. I had heard there were so many little hidden things I was hoping we could try to get a list together to try to get the most out of it. Again thank you all for your tips and keep em coming!

So many things to see:

The 'Jammitor's in FW, they are a bunch of 'janitors' who walk around with their trash cans, and all of a sudden stop and play do some great drumming on those cans and lids!

Off Kilter, a punkish Canadian band at the Canada pavilion, that wear kilts and are SOO talented!

The Chinese Acrobats in China are absolutely incredible.

The Dancing Fountain (at night is best) at the entrance to the World showcase.

The 'Alien' acrobats in Future world are also amazing to watch...


I could go on and on....I didn't even mention the rides. Take your time and don't rush from ride to ride and you'll see many many neat things

I don't think one person mentioned Spaceship Earth in Future World. The Icon for the whole park. You must ride it. If there is a long line in the morning, come back to it at night-no line at all. Even if it looks like a line outside, you board the riide right inside the building so there's no line inside. Be sure to go in The Living Seas also. The kids will love the big aquarium inside. Journey Into Imagination is really cute and there's an interaction room after you get off the ride with lots of things to do. The older kids and adults should try Test Track. Even if you don't ride Mission:Space, go through the gift shop and there's a big room with games in it. There is ar really fun hugh video game that has "astronauts" that play on stage and others on the ground that operate computers and help the astronauts fix the problems on the spaceship. There are two teams that play against each other. It's a lot of fun. There are lots of things to see in Innovations also and you can make a small "free" plastic robot. In World Showcase there's the boat ride in Mexico and Norway and something interesting in every country. Be sure to see the lady that makes "free" candy animals in Japan. Her name is Meyoki(sp) and she will be on the schedule that you can pick up when you enter. You should really see Off-Kilter in Canada. There are lots of outdoor entertainment like the Kristos, the Jamitors, two guys in France where one of the guys climbs up on stacked chairs and balances, The British Invasion, the Chinese Acrobats, and the drum players in Japan. The 360 films in Canada, China and France are also very nice. There's just so much to do at Epcot that it's hard to put down everything. I tried to cover some things that nobody else mentioned so add these things to everything else everybody self said. Can you tell how much I Epcot.

Definitly see the Chinese acrobats! All of the live performers are awesome, but these will probably be the most interresting to the kids.

Get a Kaki Gori in Japan! They're basically the best snow cones ever, and only $2.25!

Watch for the lights in the sidewalks on the way out at night- one of my favorite little details!

Definitly try to take things slowly. You're not going to see all of WDW in one trip, so there's no point trying. You'll see so many interresting details if you slow down, plus you won't all be worn out so quickly!

In France, go to the pastry shop, they have the best pastries, I bet that could make the family happy! Also, not sure what time but in Japan, there are some drummers that play and that always is entertaining as well. There are I believe koy fish in the ponds of China, which makes for some relaxing family time as well. So much to see and do, I Love Epcot, as others have said, take your time so you don't miss the non obvious things! And if you can make it to Illuminations, that is usually a kid pleaser, least in my family!! have un, and have a goody from France for me!

Check the show times when you enter the park for the lady in Japan that makes candy animals. I haven't been able to see her on other trips, but I am going to make it a point to see her this time.

Oh, oh tell me more! Anyone have more info on this one? Do you buy the candy she makes?

we have a huge collection of Disney beanies--many of them from epcot.

my deal with my kids, starting from when they were about age 5, is that they would "learn" something in each country, and we would collect international beanies.

definitely get a show schedule. with the age ranges in your group, you might end up dividing. I've "made" my kids go tothe france and china movies, starting at age 6 or so. but you might want to designate one grownup to play with the little kids while the older ones see some shows.

the "interactive" fountains mean your kids will get really wet....a good idea to have them wear or bring a swim suit.

Epcot was our favourite park!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My daughter was 6 when we went and we loved it all. We took our time and walked through the shops it and took our time.
My daughter loved baking cookies in the bottom of the land and it was free. She really cherished the mask and adding pieces to it at every country. The boat ride in Mexico she loved but not the other one .
We got an animal sucker done in Japan which was awesome. She is amazing just to watch. We took pics with the cm from each country and next time we are going to get pics of the buildings to have too !
We went in May so the flower festival was on so we went to Minnie's butterfly garden and spent some time there.

There is a free program in the bottom of the land that offers children the opportunity to make choc chip cookies for free. They have times posted and you arrive 10mins before the time and then line up. They take the children give them chef hats and then mix all ingredients together use the magic oven and bake them and then eat them.. yummy

Here is a link to a list of things to see at Epcot off of Allearsnet. I think that a lot of these have already been mentioned. Just keep in mind that the "Coca Cola igloo" mentioned no longer exists, but they do still have a place to get free samples of drinks at.
