Help us decide- AK and AKL dining

ok- so if we take a taxi back to our resort (I like that idea!)

Does any know how much it would be from AKL to POR?

ALSO-
I will have my 1.5 yo with me- do I just hold her in the cab since she wont have a car seat? I guess its just like holding her on the bus right?

The bus service for AKL is EXCELLENT. You will have no problem w/ your little ones. We do it all the time. Plus the Lodge is real close to the park so it's not a long ride. Seeing Ak closes early it's nice to head over to AKL for dinner and take in some of there evening activities (story telling at the fire pit).

I would go to TH for breakfast and dinner at Boma.

I don't remember exactly what the cost was from AKL to POR but it was around $12.00. It wasn't expensive and definitely worth the time we saved in travel. As far as the car seat, I don't know the answer to that but I'd imagine that one of the taxis or taxi vans that they have waiting outside the hotels would be equipped with a car seat. They must deal with that situation all the time. Maybe someone else will have more specific answers for you but I will say that the taxi option really is worth considering. :thumbsup2

With the two little ones I'd either go to Yak and Yeti or go to Boma (one of our favourites) and catch a taxi back to POR.

Just read over on the transportation board that usually there are taxis waiting that have car seats and if there isn't one they just radio for one that does. They said this was very quick and they never waited more than 5 min. for the taxi to arrive. Hope this helps.

I would suggest Yak and Yetti. We've never been disappointed with their food, although we've also never ordered anything off of the kids menu. I also love Boma, but my DSis (17) is a picky eater and didn't find much she enjoyed there. She tried a few of the African items, but mostly tried out the stuff from the "kids/American" station, none of which she found very tasty. She did like the desserts though

In terms of taking a bus from AKL back to POR, it really just depends on your timing and how everyone in the group is feeling. If people are tired and you end up with bad timing (having to wait for busses) it can be a really unpleasant experience to go from resort to resort via bus transportation. If everyone is feeling good and up for some adventure, take the busses, otherwise take the cab. I would agree that the cost would be $12-15.
