We are doing a 7-night Disney Land & Sea package in July of 2005 for our honeymoon. We have our choice of hotels, what are some of your recommendations? Please help! Thanks everyone!!

Although I wouldn't pick the GF for another time. I think it is absolutely beautiful for a honeymoon.

I agree with the previous poster about GF for a honeymoon. I would also suggest BWI. I've read that it's a very romantic resort, especially in one of the Garden Suites. Good Luck!

You might want to check out this thread from a recent honeymooner who just returned from the GF. I know the situation was beyond management's control however they seemed to have handled their situation quite poorly and inappropriately. After this poster's experience I would NEVER go back there (if I were them, unless they comped their entire trip-highly unlikely-but that certainly doesn't make up for such a bad honeymoon they planned for years)! I would be quite concerned about staying here if had a problem.

I am a big fan of the S/D. If you want a WDW resort I would have to push for the BC since we honeymooned there and had a very nice experience plus you have all of the conveniences of the EPCOT resort area (the S/D restaurants, the BW area and being able to walk to EPCOT). I think it is a nice area since there are many adult things to do and it is also very romantic.

We spent ours at the Board Walk Inn and it was fantastic. The concierge staff is wonderful and the garden suites are great.

We split our honeymoon between WL concierge and AKL concierge.

AKL blew us away...we've stayed there once more since our Honeymoon and are heading back again in December.

The reason we liked AKL so much for honeymoon was that it is kinda "tucked away"...a bit more serene and relaxing. Yes, it's Disney, but I didn't find Disney being crammed down my throat, you know? I don't think you could get the AKL experience anywhere else in WDW..it really is a unique place.

We love the concierge staff at AKL...more then accomodating for us and very friendly. Plus the perk of being able to take the Sunrise and/or Sunset Safaris (I reccommend both - both WELL worth the money) is fabulous.

I vote for the GF. I think it is the most weddingy/honeymoony & romantic resort.:D

Go to the Photo Gallery on allearsnet.com. They have photographs of all of the room interiors (plus exterior shots, of course). Choose according to your personal tastes...the Boardwalk Inn rooms are beautiful...the Poly is cool in a totally different way...same with AKL and WL...I bet after you study the pictures, a clear favorite will emerge!

First of all ...

Welcome to the DIS!!!

Secondly, what is your budget? Are you interested in a moderate or delexe resort? It's OK to not stay in a deluxe resort if you don't want to go too far into debt over a honeymoon ::yes::.

My FH's mom is paying. I got online today and got some prices. Here they are:

Deluxe Resort: $4149.05
Moderate: $3909.05

Didn't go any lower than that, because we were going to Jamaica, and it was $3700, so these' aren't that much more.... I was thinking for the Deluxe, I would say AKL because I liked AK last time I went. If we went, Moderate I would chose PO Riverside. Did that use to be Dixie Landings? If so, I have stayed there before.

Thanks for the AWESOME responses!!

The BWI or AKL would be my choice for a honeymoon. Service and atmosphere at both are phenomenol!

There will liikely be lass kids at the BWI.

Well, everythings a matter of ones own "style" but I have stayed at every resort and hotel and personally it would be a very hard choice........I think though I'd choose the Boardwalk if you want the condo part of it....2nd choice for condo style, Wilderness Lodge.
For just a hotel hoom, probably The Floridian.
The Swan and Dolphin don't have the Disney "warmth"(guess because disney doesn't own them!)
Happy Planning!

:earsgirl: :earsboy:

I think that I decided that I would like the AKL the best.. We are going to look at that site allearsnet.com (Thanks Missypie), and look at how they all look, then decide for sure. His mom is making our Reservations next week... princess:

So many of us who have stayed at the Swan and Dolphin would vehemently disagree with this statement. Disney is all around at the Swan/Dolphin--views of Boardwalk, Epcot and/or MGM's Tower of Terror from rooms, walking distance to MGM and Epcot, and right next to the Boardwalk. The Swan and Dolphin are deluxe resorts in every sense of the word. The staff is phenomenal. The Dolphin lobby is very impressive. The Swan is smaller and more intimate and would be my choice for a honeymoon because it is quieter. The heavenly beds are just that, but a bed might not be enough to cause someone to choose a resort. Wait, maybe if you were on your honeymoon..... ;) They also have some king corner suites that have great views and are awesome.

I'd definitely stay at a deluxe resort for this trip: GF, BWI, or Yacht Club would be my choices. Some people rave about the atmosphere at the Poly and might be appealing if you like AK.

I have to say GF. They were above and beyond wonderful for us. GF always seems to get a bad rep, but they have been so amazing to us that we are already going to go back!

Ok, well, I think that I have changed my mind, yet again. Hearing so many people talk about how nice and luxurious the Dolphin and Swan resorts are, I am beginning to think that we should stay at one of those.

I think that since this is FH's first time at Disney (I was so shocked to hear that, but it's true, sad, but true), and I want him to love Disney and the World around it as much as I do. Disney World, and Florida, are a big part of who I am, and a part of my family's traditions.

So is this a good idea? And should we do the Dolphin or the Swan? I think that since they are included in our Cruise package that this is a good idea to try out someplace I might not be able to stay at otherwise.

Thanks so much for the warm welcomes and thanks also for the feedback!!princess:

Would you truely not stay at a resort based on a story posted on Internet forum from a total stranger. That at best is "one side" of the story.

What about all the guests that have stayed there without any problems.

We have stayed many times at the Grand Floridian and never had any problems. The only resort we had a horrible stay with the worst service ever was the BWI. This would never however make me encourage others to avoid it. Bad times happen at all resorts. Good times also happen at all resorts.

The bad times make "good press". Plus it seems on these forums many are quick to hold a grudge against a particular resort for a long time.

I would pick a resort on what appeals to you. Location, price, themeing etc.

I would prefer to stay in an Epcot resort since it is so close to nightlife and a boat ride from Epcot and MGM. I love the look of Boardwalk.

For us it depended on Who had the best "Do Not Disturb " sign HEHEHEHE:smooth: :smooth:
We pick AKL so we could do room service in the morning and sit on the balcony with Breakfast and watch the savanna and hopefully a few zebras walk buy (hoping not expecting). hope this helps :wave2:
