We have narrowed down our restaurant choices to Bistro de Paris, Boma (dinner), and California Grill. This is our last trip before our first baby comes, and it is over our anniversary.

We *think* we are for sure going to Bistro. It just sounds lovely, away from everything, private, etc. We've also never done it, so it would be new to us.

We've never done Boma either. We are staying at AKL, so it would be convenient, but I am afraid of going there and not liking the food. I am not into "spicy" foods. I'm willing to try anything, but I am afraid I'll end up eating chicken nuggets and zebra domes to get my fill.

My husband proposed to me at CG, and we know we love the food. We enjoy the fireworks from the viewing deck, we don't care if kids are around - we can ignore everything else and focus on each other.

Which two would you pick? We have TiW, so we don't care about credits. We debated V and A, but we figured we could get two meals for the price of that one. Help us decide please!

I personally like the food at Boma but this is such a special trip for you that I'd say to have dinner at Bistro & CG. Since you're already in AKL, if you have never been to Boma, why not stop there for breakfast one morning? Good food, quieter atmosphre in the mornings, and great fruit juice.

And Boma is very kid-friendly; you can always go there for dinner on some future trip!

From what you've posted, I'd say go with Bistro and Cali Grill. The Bistro is incredible in every sense of the word. Service and food are outstanding. You have the emotional tie to Cali Grill, so I'd say go with it for that reason.

Boma is a place we have enjoyed a lot. We just ate there last month and loved it. The food there is "spiced", but not "spicy." Of all the items I tried nothing was spicy in a hot way, but spiced in a manner that was very pleasant to the palate. ::MinnieMo

Have to agree with the others. I love Boma and try to get there every trip, but since this is a very special trip for the 2 of you then for sure go to Bistro and CG. Boma can wait.

Since this is a special trip, for sure Cali Grill and Bistro.

Cali Grill has incredible food. So good. And I've heard nothing but good things about Bistro. I wouldnt go to Boma to be honest. Not for dinner, considering its a special trip. Maybe for breakfast as the pp had suggested, but not dinner. JMHO.

Jiko is on the same level food wise as cg or bistro. It is convenient and much more romantic than cg which can be very noisy. I have to say I thought v and a was worth the money, and you won't be going there after the baby comes along!

Boma and Calif Grill are our 2 votes. We just didn't care for Bistro. We love Boma and Calif ! Good luck.

We didn't care for Boma. California Grill is our favorite. I would suggest Jiko too. Those are definitely 2 restaurants that are a must do for us!! We have never been to Bistro though.

Personally, we love Boma. I would highly suggest that. The food at Boma is "spicy" at all. Instead, as a PP has said, it is "spiced" and they season everything well. However, since this is a special trip, if you want two "nicer" restaurants than I would say CG and Bistro de Paris. As pp have said, I would consider Jiko as well. You can do Boma as a family later on but you can say the same for CG. If you want to romantic evenings I would go CG and either Jiko or Bistro.

I agree with those who suggested you consider Jiko. We had one of our best meals there on our last trip. Between my husband, DD16, and I we had 3 different appetizers, entrees, and desserts and every single dish was absolutely delicious.

Love California Grill too, especially the sushi. We go for the fireworks and always end up eating so late that we're not in the mood for a heavy meal. I've read recommendations on the boards to try going at sunset. I think we will do that on our next trip.

I would choose either of these two over Boma. We were excited to try Boma, and while it was fine, we were not overly impressed.

I vote for CG and Jiko too. Although we haven't eaten at Bistro, I was disappointed with Boma. I know that CG and Jiko will be excellent. They are two must dos every trip.

Have fun and enjoy which ever you choose!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'll forward this thread to my husband so we can talk about it tonight. :goodvibes

Of your choices I would pick CA Grille and Bistro. Boma just does not appeal to me, and it can be very noisy.
We also love Jiko. We have been 3 times. It is quiet and beautiful and the food is delicious. Look at the menu first though, to be sure it appeals to youl
Have Fun
